A few months ago, I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Evangelos Tsagkouros of Krypteia Kniveslocated in Iceland. This company has been quietly making big waves here in the United States with their unique fixed blade knife designs. As a fan of these blades, I suggested to Evangelos, we should work together for a […]
The Vibram FiveFingers Spyridon MR (the MR is short for mud run) is not your typical running shoe. It doesn’t look or act like a typical running shoe, and it turns out that’s not such a bad thing. With aggressive all-terrain tread and a glove like fit, this “shoe” is more like a mud glove […]
The Luna Sandals are mentioned here because my buddy Don Tamm began using them for an ultra-marathon. I was curious. Sandals are great to have for a variety of uses; beach wear, shower shoes, or walking around town. No one wants to be in shoes all the time and the open and freeing-feeling they give […]
I began this year by selecting a new hunting area. The timber company land I have been hunting for the last few years has continued to raise its usage fees. These fees were making the already expensive sport of hunting, even more expensive. So, the new area had to have everything I wanted to hunt; […]
Editors note: The handle scales of the ZT0909 are manufactured from G-10, not carbon fiber as stated in the review. Zero Tolerance also recommends that the only way you open the knife is via the flipper. Never attempt to “flick” the knife open which may cause injury to yourself or someone else. The ZT-0909 folding […]

When it comes to being out in the woods those items may not be ideally suited. Most units in the Military that deploy will have ‘kit bags’ […]
My initial impression of the SOG Mini Vulcan was WOW! Typically, when you get a knife with the word “mini” in the name you get a product that is too small in the hand and has no heft to it. Not the case with this blade. I have medium-sized hands and the handle is long […]
My dad was reckless. It was a different time, but even for the late 70’s giving your 5-year-old son a Swiss army knife and letting him play unattended probably wasn’t the smartest move. I can probably see where my lack of risk averseness comes from, but that’s not pertinent to this particular body of work. […]
At the foot of the Alps in the Piedmont region of Italy, a small manufacturer is making metallurgical history. Sandrin is making knives out of solid tungsten carbide, one of the hardest materials on earth. It’s a feat of knife making that’s never been seen before, and by realizing it Sandrin may be fabricating the […]
