Professional Gear Reviews
When it comes to the eye protection for the range, I tend to be extraordinarily picky. No, it’s not just because I have a weird shaped head and only a precious few sunglasses designs can both look decent and stay affixed to my dome (but I’ll admit that’s part of it). It’s also because I […]
I have been on many camping trips where sleeping on the ground was less than ideal due to terrain or weather conditions like heavy rain. When I came across the Napier Outdoors Sportz Truck Tent, I knew I had to check it out. Particularly now that I have young kids that want to go camping, […]
With hundreds of knife companies each putting out a number of new blades year in and year out, you have to admire their creativity. Managing dozens of blade shapes, steel compositions, frames, locks and pocket clips while trying to stay innovative and avoiding ground already covered is a daunting task. This is also why I […]
In early 2010 when I first joined the military the Oakley SI assault glove was the go-to glove for any hard use activities. Over time new players have come to the game offering their own take on a hard use glove. When Magpul Core announced their Breach glove I was immediately interested. It had many of the aesthetic qualities […]
Streamlight is one of two companies I trust with my weapon lights. The TLR 1 is my home defense companion on my handgun, and now the Streamlight TLR 6 is riding tight on my SIG P365. The P365 has become my EDC gun and the addition of a light and laser truly makes it a […]
ASP has been stepping up their game to compete in the first responder flashlight world, and I must admit I’m not disappointed with some of their new products. The XT DT being one of them. The XT DF is a primary duty flashlight with a max output of 600 lumens and the ability to be […]
When it comes to sunglasses and eye protection, there are a lot of brands to choose from. Few, however, have a history of use in the law enforcement community quite like Oakley. That’s what Oakley’s Standard Issue division is all about: making the best shades on the market for government, military, and law enforcement use […]
I have featured the Vortex Optics UH-1 on a few articles and this is my final review on it. It’s badass and I can’t imagine switching to something else… end of review. Just kidding. The UH-1 has been adopted by anyone and everyone that can get their hands on it as the go-to CQC/CQB optic. […]

Back in my Boy Scout days, it was all about eating freeze dried food while hiking through New England. Then the Army ruined me with those shitty MRE’s. After my time in the military, it was back to better freeze dried food for kayaking expeditions. Now I’m an Overlander. And weight just isn’t a factor. […]
