Professional Gear Reviews
At SOF Week 2025, amidst the hum of innovation and the clatter of next-gen gear demos, one system stood out for its quiet, titanium-backed revolution: the ExoM Up-Armoured Exoskeleton from Mehler Systems. Co-developed with Mawashi Science & Technology and France’s elite GIGN unit, the ExoM isn’t just a concept—it’s a mission-proven solution that’s reshaping how […]
I’ve moved to a new team at work and I’ve learned a couple things about them. First there are a lot of Navy people on this team, and secondly, they love their coffee. The conversation drifted yesterday afternoon to something I never heard of, Dalgona Coffee. Supposedly if you were anywhere near social media in […]
At SOF Week 2024 Guy and I saw a Hilux pickup with a Mini-gun mounted on a turret in the back. Our first thought, ooooo sexy we want, and then we noticed it was licensed in Texas, of course. That was our first introduction to the BullFrog from Allen Control Systems (ACS), and since then, […]
When you operate in hot, humid environments, your gear either works with you or against you. The UF PRO Striker TT Combat Pants fall firmly into the first category. Designed from the ground up for tropical climates, these pants combine lightweight construction, smart ventilation, and rugged reinforcements in a package that feels purpose-built for the […]
Last month I was startled by someone’s panic-induced rant, “Oh My GOD, There’s a Hurricaaaaaaannnnnne”. Erin was alive and churning out in the Atlantic, not anywhere near us in NW Florida mind you, but yes, there was a hurricane. With hurricane season now in it’s more dangerous time, I’m seeing more articles about prepping, some […]
Imagine being a Federal Law Enforcement Officer and not being able to do your job completely. You have leads you can’t follow up on, when you are allowed to, you aren’t given enough resources to do it correctly, and finally, you’re left with nothing to show for your efforts. In the Government Agency office building […]
If you’re the kind of rider who doesn’t ask for directions and thinks a “weekend trip” involves crossing a state line or two, Viking Motorcycle Bags should be on your shortlist. These guys don’t mess around with dainty saddlebags or fashion-first gear. They build storage solutions for riders who treat weather forecasts like a suggestion […]
Let’s get something straight right out of the gate—there’s hype, and then there’s hardware and software doing the damn thing. Tactical drone systems come and go, but earlier this year, Palladyne AI and Red Cat Holdings didn’t just talk about next-gen drone warfare—they flew it. In a real-world test that pulled no punches, the two […]
SHOT Show is always about new items, updated new models and new ways of doing old jobs. This year was no different and while I took the time to see all the new, there were some old favorites that I got to see and hope to show them here in the future. First and foremost, […]
Normally we have one good cold spell here in NW Florida each winter, 5 maybe 6 days where the nights are below freezing and the days are maybe 40deg. They already enjoyed a beautiful white winter in January this year (complete with 9 inches of snow) while I was attending SHOT Show in Las Vegas. […]
