Pic of The Day, Viking Tool and Handlebar Bag

November 28, 2025 by Fred Rowlands 371 Comments

Every rider hits that moment. You are a few miles into a day ride or a multi-day run, and realize the stuff you actually need is never where you need it.  While riding recently, I met a couple having a minor issue with their bike, but no tools.  Lucky for them, I have a Handlebar bag from Viking that holds my toolkit, which solved their immediate problem.

Straps allow it to easily fit on very thick front forks

Viking’s tool and handlebar bags are compact, purpose-built storage pouches that mount to your bars, forks, crash bars, or frame rails, depending on the model and your setup. Think of them as the “admin pouch” for your bike. Not flashy. Just damn useful.  The model I have is the Dark Age Plain Motorcycle Tool Bag, it’s a  clean leather pouch with two buckles and a simple strap mount. It is meant for day ride essentials or a small tool kit and works on most bikes without messing up your lines.

Viking Bags has been around since 2007, and their handlebar and tool bags follow the same formula as their saddlebags: tough materials, simple mounting, and a look that fits most bikes. Their leather options lean into that classic cruiser and retro vibe, while their nylon adventure models aim for lightweight and weather resistance.

Viking’s tool and handlebar bags are straightforward gear for riders who care more about reliability than trends. Whether you want the old school leather look or a modern nylon pouch for adventure runs, the idea is the same: keep your essentials tight, secure, and right where you can reach them. If your bike is already dialed for the ride, this is the kind of small addition that makes the whole system work better, and Christmas is just around the corner!

Garfield out.
