Asolo Fugitive GTX Boots: Review

February 18, 2015 by Scott Witner 8 Comments

Asolo Fugitive GTX Boots: Review

The Asolo Fugitive GTX boots are good-looking, waterproof, and offer over-the-ankle support for those aggressive adventures. So if you’re looking for a boot for your next trek—be it a quick day hike, a trip to Everest Base Camp, or a mountain adventure—the Fugitive will get you there.

Colors: Black/Gunmetal, Gray/Black/Mandarin, Wool/Black (reviewed here)

Sizes available: All standard and wide shoe sizes

Weight: 3 lbs. 2 ounces

Upper material: Water-resistant split-grain leather and cordura nylon uppers are lightweight, breathable, and durable.

Outsole material: Outsoles are a combination of polyurethane midsoles over a bi-density rubber bottom for cushioning and traction.

Fit and sizing: The fit and sizing are true to your actual shoe size, even while wearing thick wool socks.

MSRP: $240.

Application: The Asolo Fugitive GTX boots are an excellent choice for hiking, backpacking, and military field use. Because of the durability of these boots and the waterproofing, they are also great for winter day hikes or hikes in inclement weather. These boots have also been popular with SOF units deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Pros: Waterproof. This, to me, is a necessity, as you need to take care of your feet. I’ve had these boots for about two years now, and they still remain just as waterproof as they were when I first bought them.

Cons: None that I have found from a usability perspective. The only con for some people may be the price. Like they say, spend once and cry once.

Bottom line/overall performance: I’ve worn these boots on multiple hikes in the snow during the winter months and through streams and mud during the summer. They are still going strong and will probably last another two years. I originally saw these boots being worn by Joe Teti on the show “Dual Survival.” I figured if they were good enough to go through everything Joe put them through, they were good enough for me. If you’re in the market for a quality pair of hiking boots, I strongly suggest you take a look at the Asolo Fugitive GTX Boots.
