This Portable Water Filter Will Help You Survive the Wild

January 3, 2022 by SOFREP Leave a Comment

Imagine finding yourself in the middle of nowhere, fighting for your life and trying to stay alive. You survived the bombs, outran the enemies, even those mosquitoes trying to suck the life out of you. It was exhausting. You felt a slight itch at the back of your throat, so you reached out for your water bottle and discovered it was empty. You looked around, and there was nothing but a cloudy, murky puddle of water. You know that drinking dirty water will give you dysentery if you are lucky and something far worse if you aren’t. Wish you could bring your at-home water filter with you? Having a portable water filter might just do the trick.

The human body is made of up to 60% water. It is essential to keep us up and running. In fact, you can survive without food for up to 21 days but can only do so for up to five days without water before your organs start to shut down. We can’t emphasize enough that water keeps us alive. Of course, unless it’s contaminated with E. coli or maybe arsenic, then it will certainly do the opposite for you. According to epa.gov, drinking contaminated water “can cause health effects, such as gastrointestinal illnesses, nervous system or reproductive effects, and chronic diseases such as cancer.”

Going back to the scenario above, fortunately, there exists a portable and reusable Survivor Filter Kit.

This company called Survivor Filter has a simple goal: “To provide people with access to clean water in any environment when they need it most.” They do so by offering portable water filtering products.

Specifications

Portable Water Filter Pump

  • It has a filtration level of up to .01 microns, which is the highest level available in the market.
  • It can filter out viruses, bacteria, parasites and reduce most heavy metals (like mercury and lead).
  • It improves water taste.
  • It has a flow rate of 500 ml per minute.
  • It weighs 12.8 oz.

According to them, it has three stages of filtration.

Stage 1: Pre-Filter

The contaminated water passes through a filter to remove impurities and other contaminants like algae, E. coli, protozoa, and the likes. The Pre-Filter can be washed and reused up to 100,000 liters.

Stage 2: Carbon Filter

Water then goes through the carbon filter to absorb heavy metals, chemicals, and pollutants. This carbon filter can be washed and reused up to 2,000 liters.

Stage 3: Internal Ultra Filter

In the final stage, this .01 micron ultrafilter can get rid of 99.999% of viruses and staphylococcus. The Ultra Filter can be reused up to 100,000 liters.

Portable Water Filter Bottle

If you don’t have a bag space to carry the portable water filter pump, they, fortunately, have a Survivor Filter Active Filtration Bottle, too. As per their website, it can filter out 99.99% of toxic chemicals, bacteria, parasites, and heavy metals.

  • It has an absorption filter to provide fresh-tasting water.
  • It prevents mold and mildew from growing inside the bottle or the filter.
  • The ACTIVE filter can be reused up to 100 gallons (426 refills with city water, 145 refills with raw, untreated water like lakes, rivers, etc.).
  • It has a flow rate of 1.8 liters per minute.
  • It weighs 4.9 oz.

Next time you’re out in the wild, or even in some other less extreme scenarios, make sure to bring with you a safe, reliable source of water. As a matter of simple disaster preparedness, you should have a portable water filtration system for you and your family.   As poet W.H. Auden once said, “Thousands have lived without love, not one without water.”
