I want to introduce a new member of the Loadout Room team – Michael Wratten. Michael brings a law enforcement background and also is the founder of Shellback Tactical.
Here’s Michael’s intro.
++++++++++++++
Through several conversations with Bill Janson, the Loadout Room topic came up and we started talking about Law Enforcement topics. Through those conversations Bill asked me if I would like to contribute some of my experience and knowledge to the Loadout Room from an LE perspective. I am honored to have been asked. I have not written articles before but through my law enforcement career and time spent within the Tactical Gear/ Defense industry, I feel that I can contribute and give a unique perspective here at the Loadout Room. I welcome any input or feedback on the articles I put out.
A little bit about me. I have been a Police Officer for over 16 years and am still an active police officer pushing a black and white in patrol.
I come from a law enforcement family and I am a second generation police officer. My law enforcement experience has been with two agencies. I spent 6 ½ years with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). During my time at the LAPD I had the opportunity to work several assignments:
- N.E.T. Team Narcotics Enforcement Team
- F.E.S. Field Enforcement Section( Narcotics-Plain Clothes/Under Cover Unit)
- Juvenile Detectives Unit and
- LAPD S.E.S. Gang Unit formerly known as C.R.A.S.H.
After lateralling from the LAPD in 2002 I went on to work for the West Covina Police Department where I still currently work patrol.
I have also been involved in the Tactical/Defense Industry for the last 10 years, and I am the President/Owner of Shellback Tactical Inc. I have had many experiences in Law Enforcement and within the gear industry and I hope to pass some of this insight and knowledge in my articles on the Loadout Room.
Thank You
Michael Wratten
