Hogue Knives OTF (Out of The Front) | First Impressions

Hogue Knives OTF (Out of The Front) | First Impressions

We’re continuing to take a look at the new automatic knives from Hogue Knives. We have previously looked at their standard auto opening knife.

Hogue EX-A03 Knife Review

Today we’re taking a quick look at the Hogue Knives OTF (Out of The Front) double action auto knife.  My first impressions out of the box were pretty high. The size of the knife is about as big as I would want to go for everyday carry, the handle scales (even though aluminum) have pretty decent traction/retention due to the hexagonal tread pattern as seen in the following video.

The Designer (Allen Elishewitz) is a former Recon Marine with the 4th Recon Charlie Company where he was in charge of a deep recon platoon. Aside from his military background, he also has an extensive martial arts background to include Thai Boxing, Northern Shaolin and Kali. Couldn’t ask for a better candidate to collaborate with Hogue Knives and offer design input to their first OTF knife.

I’m going to pocket this knife for a few weeks and see how it performs. I’ll follow-up shortly with an after action report of how the knife performed and held up.
