ESEE pocket survival kit: A last ditch Survival / E&E kit

December 23, 2017 by Loadout Room Guest Authors Leave a Comment

ESEE pocket survival kit

If you are an avid outdoorsman or just enjoy a good hike here and there, we all know that bad things can happen when we least expect it.  It is always a good idea to be prepared and bring along the proper tools with you in case you may need them.  When I trail run or mountain bike, I am always thinking of what replacement items that I might need in case something breaks down on me.  Maybe a shoelace tears or I run out of drinking water in my Camelbak, or get stranded somewhere?  Having a pocket survival kit with you, made up of certain go-to items is a great idea so that if something does go wrong, you have the ability to fix it and move on.

No matter where I go or what I do, I always have with me a fully charged cell phone, a watch, pocket knife and wallet on me at all times.  But, when I think I might need something more reliable and sophisticated, I choose to take along the ESEE Pocket Survival kit.  This kit was originally designed by Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin in association with individuals working on overseas missions.  Since 1997, Randall’s Adventure Training has changed the way the survival and wilderness industry operates.  Having become frustrated with the endless amount of exaggeration and hype surrounding “survival” gear and training, they decided to bring realistic tools and knowledge to the consumer.  Since the inception of Randall’s Adventure Training, Jeff and Mike have led numerous expeditions and survival training seminars in the Amazon jungles of Peru, as well as across the United States.  ESEE Knives and Randall’s Adventure Training now has a clientele that ranges from Military and Law Enforcement Teams to professional adventurers.

If you work overseas or in areas that are unsafe, you can run the risk of being unlawfully restrained, held captive and leveraged for a ransom. This small pouch contains useful tools for survival as well as tools to help the user escape and evade hostile forces. This kit can be used in conjunction with your current knife/ multi-tool and weapon system, or as a stand-alone kit.  This is known as a “last ditch” survival/ Escape and Evasion kit and is small enough to be carried on the person at all times when working in hostile environments.  Below is a list of the contents of the Pocket Survival Kit.

Kit Includes:

Pocket Container, which measures 5.0” x 3.75” x 1.5”, a mini pry bar, survival blade with handle, original SAS saw wire, folding razor blade, small button compass, rescue whistle, can opener, signal mirror with aiming screen, firestarting flint, tinder tabs, water treatment tablets, Fresnel lens magnifier, milspec cordage, survival fishing kit, mini first aid kit and mini handcuff key.  The external pocket does have to be opened by the user by folding up the top flap, but it will fit additional 550 cord, a small folded map and any small items of your choosing.

This is now the only rescue and survival kit I will carry with me since it contains everything I will need.  It is small, lightweight and attaches with Molle gear loops to any backpack or belt loop.  Don’t get caught without a chance to survive.  Visit ESEE Knives for more products and details about Survival training.
