DoubleStar has been stealthily crafting some incredible rifles. Their Midnight Dragon not only looks cool, but has given us the best ten-shot grouping we’ve ever accomplished when mixed with Nosler ammunition. Aside from accuracy and build quality, part of what sets DoubleStar rifles apart is aesthetics.
Looks may not be the officially important, but I argue that a company who cares about them may also be the kind of company who cares about build quality. Doing something different requires engineering and care. In the case of DoubleStar we haven’t been proven wrong yet. Here’s a look at the 10B to show what I mean.

The rifle is hefty, but between that heft, the brake, and the gas system it makes for one smooth shooter. As you’ll see in our multi-mag test in the shooting impressions video below the 10B feels more like an AR15 than an AR10 in the shoulder. I couldn’t help but fire quicker and quicker. The CMC trigger no doubt helped.
For our shooting experience we tested magazines from IMI Defense, Brownell’s, HexMag, MagPul, and C-Products. This is extra important with AR10 platforms as there is no official standard; no “mil-spec”. We also grouped with four different loads. Groupings were five shots from two shooters for a total of ten rounds per load. The only time between groups was as long as it took to load the magazine. That meant for a hot barrel which can degrade accuracy, but in my opinion is a more realistic test. For the testing we used the Caldwell Stinger rest and a Warne X-Skel mount held Leupold’s VX3i LRP optic.
