SIG SAUER P238: Mini 1911?
Like many shooters, I started with a .22. My dad taught me the fundamentals of sight picture, grip, trigger control, breathing, mindset, and stance, with a Ruger Mark III Target. As soon as I was familiar with the basics of shooting, I moved up to shooting his Springfield M1911 A1 Loaded. That’s when my love […]
Springfield XD-S – A Pocket .45
Springfield Armory’s new XD-S is a bad ass carry gun in a sleek, small package. The XD-S packs 6 rounds of .45ACP into a 21.5 oz firearm. With dimensions smaller than the Kahr CW45, Glock 36, Kimber Ultra Carry 1911s, and Para Carry Safe 1911s, it is currently the most miniscule .45 on the conceal […]
When Polymer Guns Fail: HK P2000
From May 2012 “FYI/SA – A Lordsburg BPA (Border Patrol Agent) fell off his ATV while in training today. The fall was precipitous and required a short visit to the hospital. Concealed Carry: The Diamond Back 380
When I was out at my friend and former SEAL platoon mate Mike Ritland’s ranch just outside of Dallas he showed me his concealed carry of choice. I haven’t had a chance to fire this bad boy but Mike said it’s a great little gun and he carries it everywhere. You have to love Texas […]
High Ready vs. Low Ready
This is one of those topics that has a tendency to set some people off. I know the SEALs jumped all over the high ready and then Blackwater began teaching it to their guys prior to deployment overseas. Later, Special Forces CIF teams adopted the high ready technique as well. As one SEAL described it […]

How to Read Russian Ammo Cans
Great information! When I was an 18B I used to teach this information to my ODA. There are third world soldiers walking around with magazines full of bad ammo because they loaded a bad lot number. You don’t want that to happen to you so it’s important to be able to decipher the markings on […]
Winchester Model 1897 Trench Gun
The Model 1897 Trench Gun is an old lead dispenser indeed, but it is the Great Granddaddy of our modern day combat shotguns. Shotguns have come a long way since John Moses Browning introduced the M97 to the world. In modern day warfare shotguns serve to solve a number of different tasks such as breaching, […]
