The Loadout Room
Professional Gear Reviews
Axes and hatchets are far more efficient and useful in the wilderness. You can achieve much more with them in comparison with survival knives, for example. They can be used to chop wood, to speed up the game preparation, to hunt, etc. It has been scientifically proven that pre-historic humanoids who used axes and hatchets […]
Zero Tolerance has always made knives I find appealing. Most of the designs are very beefy and will take a lot of abuse with no ill effects to the blade or locking mechanism. This new design is no exception as far as being able to take abuse and keep on working. This new ZT is a […]
For those that have followed my writing on the Loadout Room know that I have reviewed a-lot of knives. Of those knives I have a few that are my more expensive and more valuable ones. More valuable doesn’t necessarily translate into the price point of these blades. For me what makes a knife valuable, more […]

Recently, Leatherman Tool Group, Inc. send us one of their slick littleSkeletool multi-tools to review. This can be viewed as the little brother to the MUT we previously reviewed. I have carried some form of knife in my pocket for most of my life. They have ranged from large defensive folders to small utility knives. Big […]
Walking through WalMart on the weekly grocery run, I happened to notice a rather interesting looking folding knife on one of the end caps. The knife looked good and advertised “G10” scales. Unfortunately it was in a clamshell pack with the “Ozark Trails” brand. If you are unfamiliar with this brand, it is WalMart’s own […]
Every day carry (EDC) blades have a multitude of practical uses, but what happens when you must rely on a knife for survival? This is where the Benchmade 915 Triage excels. The modified sheepsfoot blade, environment-resistant steel, carbide glass breaker, and safety cutter make the 915 Traige a valuable asset as a survival tool. However, […]
