DPx HEAT/F OD Knife Review

After using the DPx Gear HEAT/F knife for a few weeks as my everyday carry, I am impressed. Yes, it is a small blade at under 3″, but don’t let that fool you. When you grab hold of this knife, you know you’re holding a well-built tool. The handle is beefy and fits the hand very well, with a […]

Bering Optics Urban Patrol Night Vision Pocket Scope Review

The Urban Patrol by Bering Optics is a new lightweight, compact, affordable option for those wanting to get into night vision products. Magnification: 1.0x (2.0x digital zoom) Sensor type and resolution: 1.5″ CMOS 640×480 LCD type and resolution: Color LCD 320×240 Video storage: Micro SD card or Micro USB output Overall dimensions: 5.28″ x 3.62″ […]

Rat Worx MRX Black: First Impression

Rat Worx MRX Black: First Impression

The Rat Worx MRX line of knives are incredible, to say the least. I’ve always thought of automatic knives as having too many possible points of failure, and not strong enough to withstand rigorous use. But through their many years of research and testing, Rat Worx has come up with a damn-near indestructible automatic knife. Style of […]

Folding Knife Head-to-head: Emerson Commander vs. SOG Trident

Folding Knife Head-to-head: Emerson Commander vs. SOG Trident

Two of my favorite brands of knives are Emerson Knives and SOG Knives. They both bring top-quality materials and craftsmanship to the table. Both companies have roots with the United States military; Emerson Knives started with making custom knives for the West Coast SEAL teams, and SOG Knives originated with the MACV-SOG units over in Vietnam. […]

Spyderco Delica 4 Emerson Opener: Quick Look

Spyderco Delica 4 Emerson Opener: Quick Look

The Delica 4 Emerson Opener is a feature-rich, ergonomic knife. The Emerson function transforms the knife from a utility-only knife into weapon territory. The small profile won’t scare anyone when you pull it out to open a bottle or cut up a box. If purchased as a general utility knife, the Delica will still be a great preparedness add-on. Blade […]

DPx HEAT/F OD Knife: First Impression

DPx HEAT/F OD Knife: First Impression

DPx’s Hostile Environment At-Hand Tool (HEAT) was created to be a low-profile, under 3″-long blade that could still be considered a true “knife.” Designed with the needs of law-enforcement agencies, the military, and first responders in mind, DPx focused their efforts on working with less blade but without compromising on materials, featuring a glass breaker, and ensuring the blade could be […]

Frontier Valley Knife: Quick Look

Battle Horse Frontier Valley Knife: Quick Look

When gutting or cleaning game, a common misconception is that the process is best performed with a large knife. The opposite is true: A small, fixed blade is easiest to manipulate and handle. Battle Horse Knives’ Frontier Valley Knife fits this bill perfectly, and would be right at home in your gun- or game-cleaning kit. Style of […]

Rat Worx Mini MRX Knife Review

Rat Worx has developed a line of knives with several firsts in knife making: They’re operated on a mini roller chain, powered by two dual-nested springs, and the manufacturer information is all concealed inside the knife handle, giving the knife a completely sterile look which could come in handy for those working abroad that need […]

Review: SOG Vulcan Folding Knife

Quick Look: SOG Vulcan Folding Knife

With a name that pays homage to the legendary M61 Vulcan rotary cannon found on U.S. military aircraft since the ’50s, the SOG Vulcan folding knife also shares that weapon’s robust construction and impressive potency. Style of knife: Folding, no assist open. Blade length: 3.5″. Handle length is 4.87″ and overall length is 8.375″. Type of edge: Straight clip point, satin finish. […]

SOG Specialty Knives

Quick Look: SOG Bowie 2.0

From the manufacturer: The original SOG Bowie that founded our company was based on a knife used by the Studies and Observation Group of the U.S. Special Forces and other elite soldiers in the Vietnam War. The SOG Bowie 2.0 has combined the traditional SOG Bowie with modern technology and materials, and has become a […]
