Functional Fitness | The Pull-Up

Workout Wednesday: Functional Fitness and the Pull-Up

Pull-ups were a staple exercise during the 3 months of Marine Corps Bootcamp at Parris Island. At the beginning of bootcamp, I totally sucked at pull-ups and could only squeak out maybe 5 or 6 at one time. Over time as I developed strength and conditioned my body I was able to achieve 20 by […]

SureFire Sidekick: Ultra-Compact Variable-Output LED Flashlight

SureFire Sidekick: Ultra-Compact Variable-Output LED Flashlight

Everyone needs a Sidekick! Three output levels at the push of a button with a max output of 300 lumens, just like the Titan Plus. All this capability from a polymer-bodied, rechargeable, FOB-shaped light. There’s nothing like it and its priced for everyone. A full in-depth review of this light will follow in the coming days. […]

Memorial Day Sale! HeadHunter Blades Fixed Blade Training Packages

Memorial Day Sale! HeadHunter Blades Fixed Blade Training Packages

We covered the importance and advantages of carrying a fixed blade in a previous article as well as a story about the origins of this concealable fixed blade knife. I was first introduced to it by former Navy SEAL Kyle Defoor. I have followed Kyle on social media for quite some time and had the opportunity […]

Violent Nomad Go! Bag | Blend seamlessly into any environment

What is the importance of a go-bag and why should you have one? “I kinda have a unique job, so my loadout is tailored to the main purpose of the pack. For this loadout in particular, I always carry a Maratac AA flashlight, spare magazines for my AR and Glock, Passport, Bogota lock picks, Arabic translator book, SOF-T […]

Workout Wednesday: The cinder block AMRAP

Workout Wednesday: The cinder block AMRAP

As Pat McNamara would say, “this is slippery slope shit“. He says that because dudes usually tend to have a pretty strong opinion of whatever workout they do. I’ve been a long time proponent of bodyweight exercises and workout routines. They require little to no equipment and can be done damn near anywhere. Recently I decided to […]

Watch: Pistol fundamentals with Pat McNamara

Watch: Pistol fundamentals with Pat McNamara

For the most part, pistol fundamentals remain the same from instructor to instructor. Depending on the instructor, they all have their own spin on each of the fundamentals. From what I’ve been exposed to, I have to say I prefer what Pat Mac has to say in the following video regarding pistol fundamentals. Specifically, I […]

Streamlight ProTac 1AAA | Upgraded to 115 lumens!

Streamlight ProTac 1AAA | Upgraded to 115 lumens!

I’ve carried a Streamlight flashlight for the better part of 4 years now as part of my everyday carry. For a long time, it was the popular ProTac 1AA that ran off a single AA battery and was the perfect size for carrying inside my pocket. I’ve also switched between the ProTac 2L and the […]

My trail running gear and clothing UPDATE

My trail running gear and clothing UPDATE

Editors note: This is an update to my original article on my trail running gear. Some has remained the same, while a few other pieces of gear have been changed out/upgraded. I’ve been a pretty avid runner for the past several years. I’ve completed half marathon’s, full marathon’s, the Tough Mudder and several smaller 5k […]
