Ajita Sherer

Ajita Sherer Ajita Sherer spent eight years on active duty in the U.S. Air Force and currently serves as an employee of the DoD, dedicating his career to Combat Rescue. As an engine troop and later a Flying Crew Chief on CSAR C-130Js, he deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in support of SOF missions, often serving as the sole mechanic on aircraft deep in contested environments. Working closely with Air Force Pararescue (PJs), JTACs, and Combat Controllers, as well as Navy SEALs, Army Rangers, and our sister country's Tier 1 units, he provided direct support to some of the military’s most demanding rescue and combat operations. He is most proud of his role in real-world rescue missions in Operation Inherent Resolve, saving lives and delivering trauma care to SOF teams and Marine Task Force Lion. Now an Aerospace Propulsion curriculum developer, Sherer is solely responsible for developing curriculum and training the next generation of engine system maintainers on more than 70% of all Air Force aircraft, to include his former CSAR platforms.

KA-BAR: The Knife That Won Wars and Built Legends

Few tools in American history carry the weight of legend, grit, and blood-soaked valor quite like the KA-BAR knife. More than just a hunk of steel, the KA-BAR is a symbol of American resolve; from storming the beaches of Normandy to the dusty hills of Afghanistan. It’s not just a knife. It’s the knife. Forged […]

ARES Watch Company Diver-1 & Field Watch: Unstoppable Tactical Watches for Land & Sea

When it comes to rugged, no-nonsense timepieces built for professionals, ARES Watch Co. has set the bar high. In this review, I’ll be diving deep into the ARES DIVER-1, testing its durability, precision, and real-world performance as a go-anywhere tactical dive watch. Meanwhile, SOFREP’s Managing Editor Guy McCardle will be sharing his thoughts on the […]

Beretta M9: The U.S. Military’s Iconic Sidearm

For over three decades, the Beretta M9 rode in the holsters of American warfighters from Panama to Kandahar, a controversial yet steadfast companion that echoed through history with every sharp, unmistakable crack.

M4A1 Block I: The Special Operations Origins of an American Icon

In the annals of modern warfare, few firearms have risen to such iconic status as the M4 carbine in its various forms and configurations. But before it became the ubiquitous symbol of American firepower, there was the Block I. A weapon forged in the crucible of special operations, where innovation and lethality walk hand-in-hand. The […]

Hard Head Veterans Bump Helmet vs. the Wizardry of the ATE Gen III Ballistic

When it comes to tactical headgear, HardHeadVeterans (HHV) has positioned itself as a leading manufacturer, offering both bump and ballistic helmets designed for military, law enforcement, and civilian use. As of this year, HHV is also branching out into the safety world, with a rated hard hat made from Kevlar aptly called the Kevy. With so […]

YHM Turbo Integral Suppressed Upper : One Stamp Shop

When it comes to suppressed shorty AR builds, the typical path involves a short-barreled-rifle (SBR) stamp, a separate suppressor stamp, and the patience of Mother Theresa to wait for the ATF to process both. Granted, current wait times as of March 2025 are in the weeks, not months, but still, the annoyance exists. Yankee Hill […]

CZ P10S – The Budget EDC That Gets the Job Done (Mostly)

If you’re looking for a reliable, budget-friendly concealed carry pistol, the CZ P-10 S makes a strong case for itself, kind of like that one friend who always volunteers to drive but has a car that smells like last week’s Indian food. At an MSRP of just $399, you’re getting a subcompact 9mm with solid […]

The Citizen Promaster Dive: Built Like a Bunker, Priced Like a Bivouac

If you spend any time in the field, under the waves, or just want a watch that’s not going to tap out after a hard day’s work, I humbly suggest the Citizen Promaster Dive. This thing is built like a Cold War bomb shelter, over-engineered, tough as nails, and ready to survive anything short of […]

Cerakote vs Rattlecan : The never-ending debate of Tactical Cool Factor

It’s the weekend, and let’s face it, if you own a rifle, at some point on a Saturday you’ve stared at it and thought, Man, this thing would look slick in coyote tan. Then you’re hit with a dilemma: do you fork over the cash to get a professional cerakote job, or do you grab […]

Toor Serpent: The Only Snakebite I Actually Wanted

You call that a knife? This is a…alright, we got that inevitable reference out of the way. Honestly though, some knives are just knives, and some feel like an extension of your own will. The Toor Serpent is a sleek, no-BS, get-work-done blade that’s been living on my kit for three years, and I’ve put […]
