Another Glock? Yes It’s Another Glock For the LoadoutRoom

March 6, 2024 by Fred Rowlands Leave a Comment

So there I was perusing the daily email when I saw it, a Law enforcement turn-in Glock 30 Gen 4 at a nice price from AIM Surplus.  Try as I might I couldn’t pass it by and so a few days later I was at Grey Man Armory filling out paperwork, again. I’ll admit I’d rather use their tablet to complete the required form than put pen to paper and do it the old-fashioned way, technology is a good thing in this case.

I had chosen to buy a Glock 30 after shooting one at SHOT SHOW in January and then visiting their display area, which was HUGE, in the Venetian.  The 30 shoots .45 and uses a double stack magazine the same as my Glock 41 so in a pinch I can use the 41’s magazines if needed.  Unfortunately, that doesn’t work the other way but you can’t have everything.  We chatted for a few minutes about guns, and then commented to another customer about buying a used Glock from AIM Surplus VS most other used guns from online retailers, (buy the Glock from AIM DUH), and then made my way home.

Once home I took the gun apart and did a quick check to ensure everything was in working order and it seemed perfect, albeit with a bit of wear and tear as was advertised.  The left side shows a bit of wear on the slide, scratches and such, and the rear sight shows just a bit of wear from rubbing on a holster or clothing for an extended period.

Left side with visible scratches

The right side of the slide seems to have less wear for some reason, with just a bit of discoloring on the chamber indicator.

Right side with minimal wear

Nowhere on the gun do I see any excessive wear, discoloration, nicks, burrs, or anything that would make me believe the gun has been mistreated in any way.  Even the sights still glow in the dark, you just can’t see it in my awesome photography work.

Checking out the sights

While at the shop I also purchased an extra magazine, the only one they had, and after the inspection I loaded it, and the magazine that came with the gun.  There was the only real difference I’ve noticed so far, the spring on the older magazine is slightly less “stiff” than the new magazine.  But only slightly and it isn’t loose or rattle in any way so I’m not very concerned about it, but it was noticeable when I loaded the mags up.

Next it was holster time and I have a very nice  IWB holster from 1791 Gun Leather that just came in.  It fits perfect, looks great and feels good while wearing it.  This holster is made so that you can attach a light and that’s the next accessory I’ll have to get for it.

Glock with sexy leather outfit

Next up for this gun is a range trip so I can compare it to what it’s replacing, my Springfield Micro SD, that should be a lot of fun and I’ll have video from that here on the LoadoutRoom.  In the mean time, stay safe.

Garfield out.
