Recently, part of the SOFREP family was in the field training in the European Alps with local allies. The air was thin and chilly, the ground rocky and covered in snow with beautiful vistas that truly belonged on postcards.
Training during the trip involved taking advantage of the local terrain with plenty of rappelling and high-angle shooting, among other things. Iahn said the local country’s host unit was especially happy to have his group come and train because it’s the only time they get to go in the field and shoot. Iahn and his group were glad to go because it was a chance to exercise a skillset they don’t often use and their hosts showed them a new way to calculate the High-Angle shots at that altitude.
Everyone agreed it was a great Field Exercise, and the worst part was the extremely long ride home.
