How to Make Sh*t Happen, by Sean Whalen

We all hit times when we stall out whether at home, work, family, fitness, or just life in general.  We can’t seem to get motivated and moving in the right direction. We make excuses that sound legit accept them and sell them to others.  The truth is we lost the drive we once had and have become comfortable with where we are. Just checking the boxes at work and at home, skipping the workouts to watch television and swipe our favorite page on our phone for hours on end in a fog.

I’ve been there myself and have read my share of books and been enrolled in self-improvement programs and have gotten a lot out of them.  For me they keep me going when I feel myself slipping back into the couch. Recently I came across a book by Sean Whalen titled How to Make Sh*t Happen.

I first stumbled across Sean Whalen on Facebook where he had videos about his Lions Not Sheep program.  His message was direct stop whining and lying to yourself about how you can’t get out of where you are and make it happen.  Sean Whalen wasn’t a former military guy, athlete, or lifestyle guru, but a young guy who had made millions before he was thirty, lost it all, gone through a pretty ugly divorce, and got his act together to rebuild his life, business, and reestablish a civil relationship with his ex-wife.  I decided to pick up a copy from Amazon $3.59 hardcopy or $2.99 for the Kindle version.

As soon as I received the book I started reading it and finished it in one sitting.  It’s not a big book at around 100 pages but it grabs you right from the first page. Sean Whalen goes into some of the backgrounds of his situation and spends the rest of the book explaining how to use the techniques he utilized to rebuild his life and business.  It’s straightforward with no punches pulled. The basics are what he calls Core 4. They are Power, Passion, Purpose, and Production. Mind, body, spirit, and finance. Yeah, we’ve heard it all before but Sean has gone straight for the throat about how to overcome issues that may be holding you back from getting out of a rut, along with the Production part that’s about making money an often overlooked aspect in self-improvement books.

I like this book it’s straight and to the point like a bucket of cold water in your face. Do I agree with every word and thought in the book, no but I think it a good starting point for someone looking for basic tools to jumpstart themselves who don’t want to spend a long time reading a longer more in-depth book.  For the price, you can’t go wrong and.
