About the Ferrosi Pants
The Ferrosi Pants are great for a number of reasons. First off, these pants perform well in nearly all conditions year-round. While there is certainly a point where the weather becomes too cold to wear your Ferrosi Pants by themselves as bottoms, they perform well in just about any weather. I tested these pants during high winds, freezing temperatures, and wet weather. As lightweight as the Ferrosi Pants were, they were more water-resistant than I originally thought and blocked wind better than expected. In warmer conditions, there is absolutely no doubt that these are probably the best pair of pants you’ll find. The pants breathe well, they stretch, and they are one of the most lightweight pants I own. If you see me outside in the summer, expect to see me wearing a pair of Ferrosi Pants.
As I mentioned previously, the Ferrosi Pants are also quite practical. I especially liked the design of their pockets. The front pockets are indeed front pockets, the opening does not run alongside the side of the pants, so you’re less likely to have something fall out of them. For the two back pockets and one thigh pocket, Outdoor Research has implemented zippers. These zip pockets help keep any small items like a wallet, ID, or phone secure in your pocket.
Where they fall short (not really)
My pair of Ferrosi Pants ended up ripping in several different locations. However, I will say this was due to my willingness to put it through some abuse. Between climbing precarious places, navigating through narrow passages, and all the jagged edges I came in contact with, I’m certain no pants would have held up to the abuse. Though this could be a con, I don’t believe it to be, I still think the Ferrosi Pants are a quality piece of gear. Additionally, through this experience, I became familiar with their Infinite Guarantee. The Infinite Guarantee is exactly what it sounds like; Outdoor Research stands behind their products and will replace your gear should it fail, no matter how long you have owned it.
The verdict
The good
-Very lightweight
-Water-resistant/quick-drying
-Good stretch
-Comfortable
-Infinite guarantee (guaranteed forever)
The bad
-Not suited for harsher winter conditions
The Ferrosi Pants doesn’t have any cons. As I mentioned, my original pair of Ferrosi Pants ripped, but this was due to my abuse. These pants offer the best performance possible out of a lightweight pair of pants. At 10.7 oz, these pants feel extremely light, but will still outperform its competitors. The Ferrosi Pants offers the utmost comfort and performance, so these may just be the last pair of pants you ever need for your outdoor adventure.
