Tinder Bag by The Hidden Woodsmen

Tinder Bag by The Hidden Woodsmen

Recently, I was given the opportunity to test and review several products from The Hidden Woodsmen, a small business that makes gear for those that love to spend their time in the outdoors. The Hidden Woodsmen takes the idea of unique gear that was carried by 18th century woodsmen and produces newer, more modern versions for us to enjoy. One such product is the Tinder Bag.

The Tinder Bag is a water-resistant bag made of 500D nylon that can be used to gather tinder or wild edibles during your stay in the forest. The Tinder Bag is a mix between a dump pouch and a roll-top bag that can keep tinder, herbs, or small utility items dry. The best part about this bag is the construction and price.

Like all of The Hidden Woodsmen products, it is hand-crafted in New England using materials that are made in the United States. I’ve not had a single complaint about the construction of any of the products offered by this great company. For quality gear, the prices you pay are astoundingly low compared to other companies that make similar products. Usually, these types of products are made of leather and can be very expensive.

As for the Tinder Bag, it really is a multi-purpose piece of gear that anyone could find a use for. A tinder bag is made to carry tinder sources around on your person in order to have it with you when you need it. If you’ve ever spent a decent amount of time in the wilderness, you know that it can be difficult to find tinder depending on the weather or location.

The Tinder Bag lets you store anything you might pick up in nature that could help you start a fire. This could be fatwood, small sticks, bark, or dried grass. Since it is made of a breathable type of nylon, it will help to prevent mold or excess moisture building up in your tinder. Once you’re out there and you have your tinder, you can roll the top down and use the buckle clips to keep everything nice and dry.

As for the buckles, this brings us to the next stated purpose of gathering edibles and wild herbs. If you clip the buckles together around a belt or belt loop, you can keep the bag on your side for foraging. As a dump pouch, the Tinder Bag excels because of its size for carrying the little things you might pick up in the forest. This is a great feature that only adds to the amount of quality that you get in such a small product.

The Hidden Woodsmen offers these bags in limited runs with very affordable pricing. Right now they are on sale in Green for only $13. You can stay up to date on this and other products at The Hidden Woodsmen, or check them out on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube!
