When the Tough Get Going, Their Feet Lead the Way

March 1, 2024 by Fred Rowlands Leave a Comment

Boots get all the attention when it comes to protecting and pampering your feet but they shouldn’t. It’s a team effort when it comes to keeping you going in the field, you have to have a good supply line, good comms, leadership, teammates, and in order to keep yourself moving it’s good boots AND good socks. I know there are people who may not believe that but I’m going to make a guess and say they’ve never had the opportunity to try some socks that are literally engineered to keep them in the fight longer and in better shape than your normal off the shelf brand socks.

These are the Socks I Have and They Look and Feel Great

Enter Legend Compression Tactical line of socks, designed from the ground (sorry!) up to help keep you stronger and more capable for a longer period of time in extreme environments and/or use. They make socks for sports compression use, everyday casual compression use , Plantar Fasciitis use and have a special site just for their Legend Tactical Boot Socks line.

I got some Legend socks and sent a pair to my Grandson Iahn right before he went to training and we have gotten some good wear testing out of them and we both agree, these socks ROCK!

Iahn was off to school Stateside recently and put into an extreme training environment, (as is ALL Army training for a Soldiers feet!) and was able to give a first hand report during and after school on how the socks stood up to the environment and helped his feet during class.

In his words: I brought 5 pairs of merino wool socks with me, I knew the weather would be full of changes including cold days and nights so I prepared accordingly. I had 4 pair of wool socks from Vermont, and one pair of Legend Compression All Weather mid calf socks. I noticed when I wore the Legend socks my feet and legs felt better after a day in the field. The biggest difference was when we were in the water and totally soaked, then doing more field work and the ruck back, I was the “least miserable”! I could still feel my feet and everything worked, even after being stationary for an extended period of time. Cold and wet, YES, but that’s standard Army issue. Able to perform better than the Soldiers around me, YES! The other part I liked about them, they dried fast after I washed them in my room, usually within 6 hours of hanging them over the shower rod. To get through class I only needed 3 pair of socks and that’s only because of the class schedule sometimes giving us short nights. Love these socks and want MORE!!

One of the Fun Class Environments Iahn Was In

For my part I used the Over The Calf and Compression Socks during SHOT SHOW and LOVED them. Yes I had good boots too but since that time on occasion I’ve used the same boots without using Legend socks and I notice a difference. I’ve used compression stockings and normal merino wool socks and achieved the same results as using Legend socks BUT, the extra layer is uncomfortable at times. Using the Legend socks for me has become a no brainer, and the fact that they come in so many different varieties is a huge plus for everyone.

These Socks are Used and Proven Every Day

The All Weather Compression socks are Certified Flame Resistant, 53% Merino Wool, 45% Nylon and 2% Spandex to help keep them in place after you put them on. I have a pair of mid calf socks and can attest to the fact they DO stay in place so you’re not pulling them up throughout the day. Zero Friction toe with no seam, a clencher over the arch of your foot for support, and the wool is encapsulated within the nylon to help with softness, durability and reduce shrinkage.

SOFREP editor Guy McArdle and I both wore Legend Compression Tactical Socks at SHOT SHOW this year and we agree, our feet were better off because if it at the end of each day. As I said before in my video, the way to survive Las Vegas, (and anywhere else on your feet) is with the right team on your feet that includes Legend Tactical Compression Socks! https://youtu.be/SJasVjUwUxc
