Wicked Wednesday: The elegant Sig Sauer P226

Wicked Grips has sent us their weekly update. They never fail to impress…
Certain models of handguns are often overlooked in the aftermarket custom industry, due to size and complexity. The Sig P226 is a classic example… the grip panels require large blocks of material, with a massive amount of backside machine inletting required to fit the frame. Due to the grip itself making up a much of the lower receiver (because the firearm frame itself is quite small underneath), the grip becomes a structural part of the gun as well.

This is the reason we came at it from a different perspective. Exotic materials… inlays… do not lend themselves to this design. The Sig P226 grip design has many thin spots, making the traditional 2 panel design extremely difficult to do in high end woods. To date, many attempting these had to use a wood material with little grain play, or plastics/resins and other man made synthetics.

So we came up with a 3 piece interlocking design that not only allows us to use more expensive materials in small block sizes, but also allows us to create inlay designs, intermixing different materials in new ways never seen before for the Sig P226. The side panels can be checkered and inlaid in our G10 and Wood grips, with a G10 interchangeable backstrap that can also be made with pure texture, inlays, or any contrasting combination. You can Display your P226 with our wood grips on Monday, and then carry it on Tuesday with our aluminum anodized art grip version, all using the same backstrap for “Grip Texture”.

Next.. we took an often overlooked upgrade, and took it to a whole other level with our new line of Gemstone grip screws. Not just for the ladies.. these are designed for anyone wanting a custom touch that is easy to install, truly unique in the industry, yet tough enough for daily use. With Gemstones that range from blacks, blues and patriotics reds.. to more sophisticated looks like pearls & opals, there is something for every taste.”

Pictured is a G10 and Turquoise P226 grip set with Blue Topaz CZ grip screws… And a zebrawood set with green synthetic opals, with Ebony inlays of a Tribal swirl..
