Crate Club | Terror on a Plane, Be Prepared

Crate Club | Terror on a Plane, Be Prepared

On the 22nd of December 2001, British Terrorist Richard Reid, also known as the ‘Shoe Bomber,’ attempted to detonate an explosive device packed into his shoe while on an American Airlines flight from Paris to Miami. Leading up to the incident, a flight attendant smelled what she thought to be a burnt match. Upon seeing Reid she noticed a shoe in his lap, and his attempts to light a fuse that led into the heel of the shoe. Nearby passengers grabbed Reid, tied him up with seatbelts, headphone cords, and then gave him a tranquilizer from an onboard medical kit before landing at the closest Airport. If not for the bravery and courage of fellow passengers nearby, Reid may have been successful in his attempts to detonate the device.
