Professional Gear Reviews
A couple years ago, I went to Wal-Mart to buy some of my favorite targets (I’ll tell you about them sometime soon) but they were out. I had my Malinois with me, and we used the garden exit so she wouldn’t have to walk on hot pavement any more than necessary. Pool noodles were on sale…cheap…and I […]
L-Tech Ammunition and Shell Shock Technologies have recently produced perhaps the best ammunition you’ve never heard of. Â Accurate, consistent and reliable is about all one can ask for in the ammunition world and yet it is sometimes so hard to find. Â This particular load combines a solid-copper 124gr projectile with the latest two-piece shell design […]
There has been a resurgence of the MP-5. Importers and American companies are supplying clones and new AR pistol caliber carbines now run MP-5 magazines. HK Factory OEM magazines have always been expensive, hard to find and prone to corrosion. Many of these new manufacturers are providing KCI USA products as their OEM magazines. Here’s […]
Recently, I had the pleasure of taking the Smith and Wesson Governor to the range. My first impression of this big S&W wheelgun is that it is a ton of fun. The  Governor is a multiple caliber handgun. It fires .45 ACP (with moon clips), .45 Colt, and .410 gauge shot shells, so I tried out […]
Today, carrying a small pistol everyday has become a very common thing for people throughout the gun community. We see that having a small but effective gun on our hip frees us from the boundaries of having to be selective with our clothing choices and our overall comfort. Even though there has been a growth […]
When Walther released the original CCP it was met with much anticipation. Straight blowback 9mm is too much to handle, but Walther’s piston system known as “softcoil” offered to reduce recoil below standard Browning systems. The “softcoil” also applied to the recoil spring which didn’t need to be as heavy and so the gun is […]
While Aimpoint products have been used by the US military (among others) for decades now, the Swedish optics company is still working to produce the gold standard in red-dot technology. When the CompM5 was released in Fall of 2017, I set to work getting my hands on a T&E sample. Having had the CompM5 for […]
The ultimate winner of the Marine Corps M-27 Infantry Automatic Rifle contract was the the HK M27 IAR, a version of the company’s HK 416 AR knock-off. A friend of a friend of the blog FOIAd this information, which took him two requests. The first produced the Round One reliability testing, which down checked 6 of […]
“How on Earth do you conceal carry in those jeans?” is the most frequent question I receive with regard to ladies’ concealed carry. It also probably the most difficult question about women’s CCW to answer. Because I’m that kind of woman who has to make things difficult by wanting to conceal full-size +2lb pistols, I’ve gone […]
Our staff writer Nick Betts recently took a trip to an undisclosed location to enjoy a day shooting on the range and firing up the grill. Good friend and Heckler & Koch fanatic Derick decided to give us a little history lesson on some of the more rare weapons coming from the German firearms manufacturer. […]
