Blade Brothers Knives Orkney Claw | Quick Look

Blade Brothers Knives Orkney Claw | Quick Look

Some background on Blade Brothers Knives:

Sportive knife fighting club Blade Brothers was founded in summer 2007 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Founders of the club worked out its own training methodology of knife fighting, based on the principles of efficiency and easy implementation of fight techniques constantly testing it during competitions and friendly duels comprising all kinds of full contact styles of martial arts. As a result, the club took leading position among Ukrainian knife fight schools on a number of prizes and became famous as one of the strongest contemporary clubs in Ukraine.

With the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war members and instructors of the club joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and volunteer battalions of the Interior Ministry for participation in military actions. Having returned from the war members and instructors of the club conducted seminars and trained members of Special Forces and reservists to the Armed Forces and the Interior Ministry.

Their newest line of knives available are for everyday carry; a series of concealed wear self-defense and street confrontation knives for everyday carrying in urban environment. The knife I chose to take a quick look at today is the Orkney Claw. After looking through the line of EDC knives they offer the Orkney Claw is what I was drawn to. I’m usually a straight edge kind of guy, but the slight recurve on this blade is killer. The size of the knife also makes for ease of concealed carry.

I do plan on purchasing this blade and will publish an updated review once I have it in my hands and have had a chance to carry and use it in an urban environment. Here are the specs of the knife courtesy of the Blade Brothers website.

The main features of this knife were borrowed from the ritual dagger found in the tomb Maeshowe on Mainland Orkney Islands. The knife was created to conform to the Philippine fighting style that focuses on fast chop cuts.

The length of the blade on the straight is 10 cm, thickness is 5 mm, handle length is 9 cm.

High carbon 65g steel, hardened to 55-58 HRC, corrosion-resistant polymer coating. Handle plates – polyurethane, texture toxic. Sheath of the so-called pattern “Burdock” is made of ABC plastic, suspended to the belt with a plastic clip.
