XS Big Dot Shotgun Sight – Hard and Fast

If you’ve ever done any shopping for night sights you’ve likely run across the XS big dot sights. I’m a big fan of XS sights, and I have both handguns and rifles with XS sights for a reason. Finally, one of my shotguns is rocking an XS big dot sight. Oh, wait, technically it’s not a shotgun, it’s a 12 gauge firearm. I’m talking about the Mossberg 590 Shockwave. The 590 Shockwave is a 12 gauge that lacks a stock. Without a stock, it’s a bit difficult to shoot, and with a small little bead sight it’s a pain in the ass to actually aim. Adding an XS Big Dot Shotgun sight was my first upgrade of many to my Mossberg 590 Shockwave.

On Target with the XS Big Dot Shotgun Sight

The XS shotgun sight is easy to install. All you have to do is remove the front bead and replace it with the larger XS bead, then you fit the actual night sight over the bead and secure it with Loc Tite. Let it dry and harden and you’re ready to go.

Normal bead vs XS Big Dot Sight

The XS Big Dot Sight is a combination day and night sight that’s designed for self-defense and is appropriate for a shotgun. Since shotguns, and especially defensive shotguns, aren’t needed for long range shooting the XS Big Dot shotgun sight is perfect for a short-range weapon. The big dot makes it faster to get on target, and easier to see in a stressful situation.

XS Big Dot shotgun sight uses a large white, high visibility circle that is easy to see. In the center of the white dot is your tritium vial that glows in low light situations. Being prepared for a defensive event at all times is a critical component to any weapon. It’s easy to use and allows me to get on target and transition between targets rapidly and easily.

Glows nice and bright

Even though this hand cannon lacks a stock it’s still possible to aim. Due to the lack of the stock, it’s size, and recoil this is really a close range cannon. At close range speed rules, so the faster you get that front sight on target the faster you put pain on target.

Little Gun, Big Problem

The Shockwave is a challenging weapon to shoot and the little bead they include just sucks, and sucks hard. It’s too small, and it’s hard to find during the day, and absolutely impossible to find at night. The XS Big Dot
