Maxpedition Falcon II Review

May 20, 2016 by The Loadout Room Leave a Comment

Maxpedition makes some of the finest military backpacks available and the Falcon II is a shining example. This pack is a tactical bag, which is GSA

compliant. It has MOLLE webbing on the front, left and right sides of the backpack. The accordion style bag is also compatible with ALICE gear. There is a Pouch Attachment Ladder System (PALS) that provides for distribution of the weight of the gear, which can be attached to multiple points on the webbing. The backpack is available in black, foliage green, khaki, khaki/foliage, safety yellow, fire/EMS red, royal blue/foliage, orange/foliage and OD green.

The sternum strap has a quick release buckle and can keep the bag in place, while a map or compass is being used. The curved shoulder straps are foam-padded and cushion the weight of the backpack. We had the straps wrapped smoothly across our shoulders, while the loads were being easily supported across our backs. The waist straps, which were removable, helped to control any rocking motion and locked the loads into fixed positions, when we hiked across rough terrain.

There are two compartments that will each accommodate a three liter water reservoir. The rear bladder pouch is large enough to carry a concealed weapon (CCW). The front of the backpack has an upper and a lower zippered pouch. There are two internal mesh pockets, two internal zippered mesh pockets and six slip pockets. The backpack has five compartments, which offer atotal of 2510 cubic inches or 25 liters of storage space.
