ASP Agent Concealable Baton: The Name Says it All

ASP Agent Concealable Baton: The Name Says it All

November 6, 2018 by Loadout Room Guest Authors Leave a Comment

“Hmm, that looks odd,” I thought. “Never seen a metal box attached to the frame between the grill and radiator fan before,” I told a team member, ”I’m no mechanic, but I don’t think that belongs there.” I had been doing surveillance on a house that was believed to be selling drugs. I observed the target vehicle, said to be responsible for delivering the drugs, leaving the house. I pulled behind the vehicle established PC (probable cause) for a stop and gained consent from the driver to search the vehicle. No doubt he didn’t think I was going to find the dope or that I would have a tool to reach it.

After an extensive search, I located a metal container lodged between the bumper and radiator fan. There was no way to reach it with my hand; I could barely see it through a hole where the hood latch was located. Luckily I had my ASP Agent Concealable Baton with me and gave it a swing to extend it. The extra reach allowed me to dislodge the metal container which in return attached itself to my baton. After retrieving it, I discovered the suspect had attached magnets to the container, which, after being dislodged from the frame, had been attracted to steel ASP baton. Needless to say, I won this game of hide and seek.

The ASP Agent Concealable Baton is a new development by ASP which has become my favorite baton. It offers the same durability and strength as their other batons but in a much more convenient and easily carried package. The 4140 Steel striking surface is forged to shape and precision machined. The grip is a fine line, “Crosstec” knurled with spiral grooves. It can be easily stowed away in your pocket with the pen clip and presented with one swing. It even fits through MOLLE tabs. The agent is retracted with a simple push of the cap.

As mentioned in my review of the ASP Training Baton; this tool is so much more than an impact weapon. I have used my ASP to break windows, as a pry bar, an extended reach during a vehicle search, as a tactical mirror and many other things during my work as an officer. I’ve actually never used it to take someone into custody, but I still carry one because of its many uses. Check out the video for more details on the ASP Agent.
