As Pat McNamara would say, “this is slippery slope shit“. He says that because dudes usually tend to have a pretty strong opinion of whatever workout they do. I’ve been a long time proponent of bodyweight exercises and workout routines. They require little to no equipment and can be done damn near anywhere. Recently I decided to mix it up a bit and use a cinder block that I had laying around in my backyard. I ran through a few different exercises, similar to what you would do with a kettlebell, and dialed it in from there. The below is a result of that. You may need to adjust the reps based on the weight of said cinder block so as not to injure yourself and get the most out of the workout.
- 10 cinder block standing overhead presses
- 10 cinder block bicep curls
- 10 cinder block around the world rotations
- 10 push-ups
- 10 cinder block swings

Rest 1 minute. Complete as many rounds as possible keeping correct posture and form.
Once I have completed as many rounds as my body can take, I finish off with the following core and cardio.
- 100 flutter kicks
- 1-minute plank
- 1-mile run
Here is another great example of using whats around you, courtesy of Pat McNamara.
