Small Business Saturday – Highlighting the Little Guy

So Small Business Saturday is upon us and while its an even that doesn’t hold a candle to Black Friday I think it’s an important day for the gun and gear industry. People forget that the gun and gear industry is built on the backs of small businesses. From small FFLs like my favorite, Big Bend Outfitters, to the guy in his garage making kydex holsters. A lot of the interesting concepts we see aren’t coming from Colt or Glock, but from Hudson and Witt Machine. To help you connect with a few great companies small gun companies I wanted to list a few that are certainly worth checking out.

Witt Machine – Okay I mentioned them above and want to give them another shout out. They produce integrally suppressed uppers for AR 15s and moving the silencer industry forward. They also produce muzzle devices that are look good and are functional devices. Witt Machine makes some fascinating stuff, and are currently doing a 30% off sale for the Weekend.

Blue Force Gear – A lot of you guys are probably saying BFG isn’t a small business. I say just because you’ve heard their name doesn’t mean they are a fortune 500 company. Blue Force Gear is certainly a friend to the Loadout Room, and the Arms Guide so we’ve had the opportunity to meet, greet, and exchange emails more than once so we know just how hard this small business works to bring you revolutionary products. Blue Force Gear is famous for their Vicker’s Sling, but they make so much more than that. This includes plate carriers, mag pouches, and their awesome Micro TKN. They are also doing 20% off with the BLUE2017 code until Tuesday.

Midwest Tactical Solutions – Likely the smallest company on this Small Business Saturday list, but its one you guys should check out. They produce kydex holsters, mag pouches, and more. Their line up includes IWB, and OWB options as well as pistol and rifle mag pouches. My personal favorite being the pistol and AR mag pouch combo. They are using cordura camo wrapping to give their holsters a unique and personalized touch.

Midwest Tactical Solutions started as a hobby and grew into full fledged company in a little under a year. They are hoping to launch their first webstore in a few weeks, but until then you can reach them on Facebook @Midwest Tactical Solutions or at [email protected]. They are currently doing a 15% off sale and 20% for LEO and Mil.

Yeti Wurks – If you need something for the CZ Scorpion I couldn’t recommend any other company. Yeti Wurks launched with the idea of improving one of my favorite platforms the CZ Scorpion. What started with grips has grown into followers, mag base plates, mag catches and even magazine pouches. They are your one stop shop for everything Scorpion.

Sneaky Bags – Sneaky bags is the go to company for all things discrete. They produce gear bags, rifles packs, sling bags and more designed for tactical gear and weapons. Their primary goal is to give shooters a discrete means to carry gear in plain sight without attracting any attention. We’ve reviewed quite a few of their products and they’ve always been right there to answer any questions I had. They are also currently doing a 25-50% sale throughout the entire store. They are a welcome additions to my Small Business Saturday list. Nautilus cover

Garrow Arms – I just finished reviewing the garrow Arms 17 HMR upper and couldn’t be more excited for this company. They produced a high quality, well made roller locked AR upper. This first of it’s kind designed proved to be accurate, easy shooting and reliable. I’m excited to see what Garrow Arms has in store for us in 2018. Make sure you check out there 17 HMR upper and be on the lookout for my final review.

Axelson Tactical – Axelson Tactical is a small custom rifle company that’s expanded rapidly. I met the guys at 2017 Shot Show and was impressed at their gear. They produce a variety of rifles, muzzle devices, and more. Their tribute rifles are absolutely amazing, and a portion of their sales goes to numerous veteran charities. They make some amazing gear and rifles, so give them a look when you get the chance.

Hexmag – While they’re known for there awesome magazines Hexmag has dived headfirst into the accessories realm. They make furniture, mags, and more for rifles. Hexmag is one of the larger companies on the list, but in many ways are still perfectly appropriate for a Small Business Saturday List. Their gear is well made, easy to use, and best of all affordable to the average Joe.

AmmoPal – Finding ways to easily carry shotgun ammo has always been a challenge. The AmmoPal came along and changed that. AmmoPal is the companies name and product and what it does is give you ten rounds of 12 gauge on tap in what’s essentially a large box magazine. This mounts to a vest or belt and gives you an intuitive and simple way to reload and carry extra shotgun ammo. It’s well made, and we gave it a hearty recommendation.

Premier Body Armor – Last but certainly not least we want to mention Premier Body Armor on our Small Business Saturday list. When I mentioned small business and innovation I could have just said Premier Body Armor and many would understand. Their armor is some of the lightest and more comfortable steel armor I’ve ever worn. It’s also pretty damn strong and didn’t break when I shot it a few dozen times. They are having a pretty big sale on their website as well.

Wrapping Up

So this is my simple Small Business Saturday list. I wanted to highlight ten companies I think are contributing and pushing the industry to do a little better. If you want to see the continued evolution of guns, and gear remember to support small businesses. Now, with so many small businesses out there feel free to give shout outs in the comments and advertise your favorites (or just yourself).
