SIG Sauer® MPX Air Gun Trainer- Shoot anywhere

The SIG SAUER MPX air rifle is a great training tool matched to original rifle’s weight, balance and controls.  The SIG MPX Advanced Sport Pellet (ASP) airguns let you train off the range and afford enough manipulations to put your eyes and hands where they need to be so your trigger finger can go to work.  SIG Sauer’s semiautomatic MPX .177-Cal. Air Gun uses  90-gr. CO2 cartridges to fire pellets up to 700 fps from a 30-round Roto Belt magazine. This gun is ideal for training, but it is pure fun to shoot.

The MPX is built with a metal housing and-polymer stock, grips and magazine.  It has the feel and balance of the real firearm.  It comes with metal adjustable, flip-up front and rear sights attached to an integral Picatinny optics and accessory rails. The optional Sig red-dot optic makes shooting simple for beginners and great training.

SIG SAUER, Inc., is famous for making reliable firearms, silencers, optics and ammunition.  Sig has a complete line of Advanced Sport Pellet (ASP) air guns.  SIG SAUER engineers have carefully matched their air guns to the original models in weight and trigger pull. Current offerings include the P226, P250, MCX, and MPX air guns. I got to shoot their MPX Air Rifle, it is a great training aid at a modest price.

There is no ejection port, pellets don’t eject. The bolt catch is non functional, but the safety and trigger have a realistic feel.  Any one with experience with an AR or an M-4 will feel right at home. All your gear; sights, lights, and lasers work as intended. The difference is that you can shoot in the den with out having your wife call the SWAT team.

The butt stock covers a 90-gram  CO2 cartridge. A screw mechanism pierces the canister charging the action with gas.  The magazines have a round rotary feed.  Inside there is a belt which you remove to reload with the handy seating tool provided.  The magazine hold the belt forming a rotary action that puts thirty pellets into place as fast as you can pull the trigger.

I tested the MPX  Air Rifle with a variety of .177 caliber pellets from match grade to bulk pack.  Accuracy was steel target good at 30 feet even with the cheap stuff. With Sig Sauer pellets it makes one ragged hole.

Sig makes everything you need for training.  Sig’s line of targets, pellets and gas cartridges lets you squeeze all the training out of this platform and you can shoot indoors.  The pellets functioned flawlessly and provided good accuracy. I love the Texas Star Spinner air gun target pictured above.  It is a great way to train trigger control and a snap to reset.

Retail is $199.95  For the price of a kids toy, the MPX Air Rifle is a highly realistic trainer which provides feedback on your accuracy. With practice .223 ammo above 20 cents a round, training with pellets at pennies a shot is very attractive.  The ability to train at home is priceless.  You can work on target transition and trigger control in the den 24/7.
