The debate on your method of chambering a round after inserting a fresh magazine is about as intense as a Glock versus 1911 debate. Both sides throw counters and parry the following attack with some heroic example of how their method dominates. Personally, I don’t understand the idea of teaching one as dominant over the other. Racking the slide is seen as slow, but more reliable. Using the slide stop as a slide release, whether it was meant to be used as one or not, is seen as faster. But is there one method that should be considered dominant over the other?
