During SHOT Show 2013, Glock unveiled their newest addition to their .45 ACP line – the Glock 30S. Built off the 30SF frame, the Glock 30S features the double stack capacity of the previous .45 models – 10 rounds in a standard size magazine (although, mags from the full size Glock 21 will also fit the Glock 30S). But, the slide of the 30S has been slimmed, which makes it more convenient for concealed carry, and also shaves off some of the weight.
The 30S design was developed in conjunction with the LAPD’s Special Invesigation Section (SIS) to produce a .45 that would serve well for concealed carry without sacrificing caliber. To this aim, Glock has retained their standard accessory rail (for lights, lasers, etc.). And, although it is a subcompact pistol with a short grip, the Glock 30S ships with pinky extender mags. That feature provides the increased grip control that a full-size grip aids. The grip itself also features front and backstrap checkering to increase grip functionality.
The Glock 30S has already been sent to distributors. Fans of the polymer .45 should be able to get their hands on one for around $599.
