The Nuremberg, Germany based HERA Arms has made a gigantic splash into the pool of AR-15 accessory manufacturers with the release of the new Hera Arms CQR Stock & Grip set. Just when we thought the AR-15 market was completely flat and saturated HERA Arms sets Instagram and the internet on fire with just a few sample pictures of their new idea.
Recently gun owners in states like New York and California have had a series of ridiculous restrictions placed on their ability to own regular military inspired AR-15’s and that has been depressing for those of us in the so called “Free States” to see. In the last few years several manufacturers have tried to come out with functional and aesthetically pleasing stock configurations for those of you trapped behind enemy lines. Could this be the end to lame stocks that are adorning what might be hundreds of thousands of AR-15 rifles?
At first glance the stock when attached to a regular AR-15 looks like the twisted love child of an orgy consisting of the Fabrique National P90 personal defense weapon, the IWI Tavor rifle and an AR-15. It’s an odd duckling that somehow has seen a growing on the hearts and minds of shooters everywhere. There are reports that this rifle will have an aluminum plate in the open thumbhole stock to make it “California Compliant”. Many people we have spoke to have said this stock would seem to make their existing AR-15’s into a poor mans FN P90 that shoots a round that is actually affordable.
As of the writing of this article there is no released MSRP on the stock or the fore grip which are to be sold separately as far as I know. If you want to know more about the HERA CQR stock check out the manufactures web site www.hera-arms.com or the original article at www.thefirearmblog.com
SHOT Show 2017 Update
I spoke to Stag Arms representative at their booth today and they confirmed they are the authorized distributors for Hera Arms and they expect to have current backorders filled in around four weeks. The stocks are currently awaiting paperwork processing from United States Customs in order to be finished with the importation process. I had a chance to hold the Stag Short Barrel AR-15 they had on display with the Hera Arms stock and I can say I have never been so excited to have a thumb hole stock on one of my rifles.
