Hardened Arms LumaShark: Fear Not the Dark!

Hardened Arms LumaShark: Fear Not the Dark!
The LumaShark’s inner diameter begs for a suppressor.

Hardened Arms is a growing company based in Washington State.  It makes sense that folks living and working in a land that sees limited sunshine would create a way to fight the dark and what lurks within it.  Boasting dual 1150-lumen lumination built into the hand guard the LumaShark is available both as a complete rifle in one of three calibers or separately as just a hand guard.

We recently spent some time with the complete rifle and found it to be a solid setup.  If you’re thinking what I was; YES, there is ample room inside the LumaShark for s suppressor.  Build specs for the completed rifle meet or exceed what most AR consumers are looking for these days.

As it applies to the 5.56x45mm variant:

  • Hardened Arms M4 Feed Ramp Flat Top Receiver
  • Black anodized mil-spec finished upper receiver
  • Feed ramps for increased feeding reliability on barrel and upper
  • Laser etched T-Marked upper receiver
  • 4150CMV Mil-Spec Steel 5.56 Barrel Machined In House
  • Black Melonite Finish
  • 1/9 Barrel Twist
  • Chambered in 5.56 NATO (will also fire .223 ammo)
  • 16″ M4 Profile barrel with M4 Extension
  • .750″ diameter at gas block
  • 1/2×28 threaded muzzle/barrel
  • Low profile gas block
  • Barrel dimpled to secure gas block
  • Carbine length gas system
  • A2 flash hider
  • 12″ LumaShark(TM) Hand Guard, Free float 12″ handguard with 2 lights
    • *Ergonomic built in dual 1150 lumen Illumination
*T6061 Aluminum handguard with proprietary barrel nut
      *6061-T6 Type II Anodized
*Ships with Two CREE 1150 lumin lights
      *Gloved hand On/off buttons
      *IP68 Waterproofing to 16 feet
      *Ships with CR123a standard batteries
      (compatible with CR123a rechargeable)
*MLOK slots for additional accessory mounting
*Keychain tool for quick bulb changes
*1.8 IP to allow room for suppressor options
*Light weight (19.84 ounces with batteries installedMission specific options available for an additional fee:
      Infrared
      flush On/Off buttons
Pressure Pad (single or double format)
Red LaserProudly machines and assembled in the USA

Hardened Arms Forged Lower:

  • Mil-Spec 7075 Forged Lower
  • Mil-Spec Dimensions
  • Mil-Spec Lower Parts Kit Installed
  • M4 Collaspible Stock Installed
  • Works with all standard AR15 magazines

A purpose-built rifle with integrated lamination seems destined to be a close-quarters-only type of rifle, but groupings at 100 yards show it’s a rifle ready for many roles.  As you can see from the shooting impressions video there is no doubt that the LumaShark accomplishes its mission as a stand-alone hand guard and as a complete rifle from Hardened Arms.
