Firearms Training: Get Some!

Firearms Training: Get Some! - TheArmsGuide.com

One thing from which shooters of all skill levels can benefit is to attend firearms training. Information sources, such as YouTube, or firearms forums can be a place to start (or to continue) learning about shooting; however, with these, and many other “word-of-mouth” types of information sources, it can be difficult to sift the good advice from the bad. Taking a class from a firearms training institution (such as American Institute of Marksmanship, Range Time Tactical Shooting, Safety Solutions Academy, or Gunsite) or finding a private instructor (if you’re interested in more individual instruction) can provide a safe option to learn basics, such as firearms handling safety, grip, or stance, but can also expand into may areas of firearms skills such as self defense shooting or advanced marksmanship.

There are many schools across the country where one can attend classes to learn more about the shooting sports and self defense. Oftentimes, there are also classes held by local ranges, such as the class I took at Fletcher Arms to qualify for my concealed carry permit. With so many institutions of firearms training, there are often different techniques, or similar techniques with different terminology, taught. What this writer does with that information is to practice the instruction given and choose the methods (and terms) that work best for her.

For specific reviews on firearms training options, check back here at The Arms Guide. There’s more info on the way.
