Most of us have had that sinking feeling when the blue lights go on behind us. Traffic stops can be dangerous for police and citizens. It is important that you pull over safely and follow the police officers directions. Non-compliance can lead to a perceived threat and use of force. If you are legally carrying a gun, it is critical that you identify yourself and make no movements which can be misinterpreted.
Say as little as possible. If you don’t feel as if you have been treated correctly, make a note of the officers badge number or the number on the police car and make a complaint. The side of the road is not the place to contest a ticket, you do that in court. Nothing good can come from challenging a police officer during a traffic stop.
