TorkMag Extended Capacity AR Mags: Dual Spring for Balanced Torque

TorkMag’s dual 35 and 50 round AR magazines are the genuine article. Large magazines that work all the time. In combat and competition, reliability is critical.  Nobody needs a mag that works most of the time. TorkMag is not your typical mag.

The market is flooded with ARs and AR mags.  Travis Pike just wrote about the mountain of mags out there.  Spoiler alert, they are pretty much alike. Saddly, we didn’t get TorkMag in time for this test.  TorkMag is very different.

How does it work?

TorkMag’s dual spring, balanced torque system actively equalizes force on the nose and tail of loaded rounds, preventing the bolt- over-base and bullet nose diving malfunctions that have plagued large magazines.

Because their workload is shared, both springs can be scaled down without sacrificing optimum resistance and reliability. The springs’ reduced footprint beneath the follower allows our design to be highly space efficient.

The unique TorkMag spring design holds more rounds with a shorter length.

I was taught in the Army that 85% of malfunctions are caused by the magazine.  That is probably made up by some glib Sergeant at the Infantry School, but my experience bears out the idea, bad mags cause jams.  I was also taught to track my mags and destroy bad ones so they didn’t get in somebody else’s mag pouch when they covering me.

I got a 35 and a 50 round TorkMag and went to the range with a couple or ARs and a case of Sig-Sauer .223 match ammo.  TorkMag’s double springs keep constant tension on the rounds.  Rounds just love that and they joyfully leap into the chamber with tedious regularity.  No drama, unlike other extended mags, TorkMag loads easy and feeds the last round just like the first.

I have tried a lot of extended magazines and most of them don’t work.  TorkMag works and they don’t break the bank.

SPOILER ALERT:

TorkMag is coming out with new products in the next few months.  I saw these at SHOT and they are as innovative as the AR mags:  Glock-17 compatible mags and a magazine well adapter to put a Glock mag in a regular AR magwell.  We will tell you about them as soon as they fall into our hands…
