The Remington V3 TAC 13, Your Close-In Support Powerhouse

October 30, 2024 by Fred Rowlands Leave a Comment

The Remington V3 TAC-13 isn’t your grandpa’s shotgun—it’s compact, quick, and hits like my truck. Built on Remington’s proven VersaPort gas system, this semi-auto packs versatility into a design that’s a blast to shoot. The 13-inch barrel and shock-absorbing Raptor grip keep this beast manageable and surprisingly comfortable, even if it looks a little intimidating at first glance. We’re talking about a compact powerhouse here, made for close-quarters and ready to rock whether you’re running 2 3/4-inch or 3-inch shells.

Features at a Glance:

Action: Semi-auto with VersaPort gas system (smooth cycling all the way)
Capacity: 5+1 rounds, regardless of whether you’re packing in 2 3/4 or 3-inch shells
Barrel Length: 13 inches of pure stopping power  Overall Length:  26.5 inches
Weight: About 5.94 lbs – nice and light to keep you quick on your feet
Finish: Matte black oxide, because this thing is all business

As It Comes From The Box

Now, when it comes to shooting experience—this is where the TAC-13 really shines. Remington’s VersaPort system eats recoil for breakfast, so it’s way more comfortable to shoot than you’d expect. Even with the punch of 3-inch shells, the TAC-13’s gas system takes the edge off, keeping you on target without throwing you around. The Raptor grip, paired with a hand strap for control, makes it handle like a dream, especially when you’re moving fast or shooting from the hip.

Why we like it:

Breaching, imagine those six shells going into a door frame as fast as you can move and pull the trigger.  No pump action, just hit the three hinges, the knob, the deadbolt, and one more for good measure.  With practice my daughter got 5 shots off in 2 seconds, that’s pretty good.

3 inch 00 Buckshot shells contain 12 (most of the time) pellets, imagine 5 or 6 shots of those inside a confined space in less than 4 seconds, that’s devastating firepower for as long as it lasts.  For close in support that’s a hefty amount of lead or copper downrange.  You can vary your loads too, such as ending with slugs for added impact on a specific target.

But most of all….

Is it fun? Let’s just say this: if you like feeling in control of a serious piece of machinery that packs a mean punch in a tight package, the TAC-13 will bring a grin to your face.
