Modifying the Glock 43 | Tyrant Designs Extended Mag Release

Introduced in 2015 the Glock 43 was the first single stack 9mm pistol in a long line of double stack offerings from the Austrian manufacturer. This model was long overdue in both my opinion and that of many Glock fans. As much as I love to carry the Glock 19, it’s isn’t the most concealable option for me while wearing lighter summer clothing. For this, the single stack model 43 has the perfect profile. At only an inch thick, the Glock 43 can be concealed quite effortlessly.

We all know the Glock isn’t a perfect pistol right out of the box. Many owners look for new sights to replace the factory plastic pieces. Or a new trigger with a cleaner, lighter break. Another simple yet inexpensive upgrade is the magazine release. Tyrant Designs, better known for their skeletonized AR pistol grips, has taken their CNC expertise and produced a brilliant little mag release for the Glocks.

Installation is effortless and should take the average person about a minute to pop it into place. The extended mag release is CNC machined from aerospace grade aluminum ensuring an exact fit and beautiful finish. Offered in 5 different colors, you can select a bright contrast or a subtle color for your pocket pistol. Additionally, the slightly extended magazine release has an interesting chevron pattern machined onto the face. Its striking looks are second only to the tactile experience. My thumb had no problem locating and manipulating this little gem. As expected, it dropped the empty magazines without any issue.

A few months after introducing its Vertical Forward AR Grip, Illinois-based Tyrant Designs is back with its new HALO AR HandStop.

Machined from aerospace grade aluminum and finished in hardcoat black, red, grey and blue, the Tyrant Designs HALO AR HandStop employs the same 2-in-1 technology used on all the company’s foregrips. This technology allows the operator to use the new handstop on both M-LOK and KeyMod handguards.

The Tyrant HALO AR HandStop is touted in the press release as being lightweight and comfortable, as well as ideal for improving your target acquisition. It’s also designed to be used as a forward stop to keep you hand away from hot muzzle devices, and it doubles as a barricade stop. It’s skeletonized, with chamfered holes to allow finger placement inside, and it features a machined knurl for a superior grip.

“After the success of our AR-15 vertical grip, we are very excited to release our new HALO Series AR HandStop,” a statement from the company reads. “We only hope that our customers enjoy it as much as the VFG. Tyrant Designs has announced the release of an innovative new forward vertical grip, the AR-15 HALO MiniVert.

The HALO MiniVert boasts a slight angle and superior ergonomics that enable you to shoot with confidence. Its lower lip extension lets you hold the grip either traditionally or by tucking the pinky behind. Meanwhile, an aggressive side knurl on its lower portions allows for effective yaw control when operating the firearm. Its chamfered edges provide a smooth feel for the end user, while chamfered holes allow for finger placement inside.

Dubbed the MOD ForeGrip, these grips weigh just 1.7 ounces, feature an aluminum body with a polymer strap, and are compatible with M-LOK and KeyMod rails.
