Spyderco D’Allara 3 G-10 Black

August 16, 2017 by Loadout Room Guest Authors Leave a Comment

Spyderco D’Allara 3 G-10 Black

A pocket knife should be as much of a tool as a conversation piece and this Spyderco D’Allara is definitely both. When you handle this blade, the first thing you notice is the locking mechanism. A white ceramic ball bearing provides an ambidextrous lock that is both positive and distinct. The user might find that closing the blade is a little difficult at first, however, after several times practicing you will be able to do it second nature. Other distinct features are the g-10 scales and the Spyderco signature large thumb hole for easy opening and an S-30V stainless steel blade.

  • Edge length: 3.30”
  • Handle: G-10
  • Blade: S-30V
  • Closed, Open length: 4.70”, 8.10”

After showing many people the knife I got many mixed opinions on the lock, some saying it was too hard while others were very curious about it. My view on it is the lock creates a very slim profile that eliminates the chances of folding the blade during use. A fear of mine is using a folder and having it collapse during heavy use onto my fingers. Because of this unique lock design I can use this blade with extreme confidence. The G-10 scales are slim and lightly textured and provide a good working surface even with sweaty hands. The pocket clip is deep and reversible for both left and right handed users. The S-30V blade and stainless steel internals are all corrosion resistant for maritime use.

Spyderco D’Allara 3 G-10 Black

The Spyderco D’Allara is a knife that I would recommend to someone in an executive field that wants a knife to show off, and to the first responder that will use this as a workhorse. I have always picked plain edge knives for any work besides primarily cutting ropes. This blade only comes in plain edge at this time. To the guy that likes to attach 550 cord and a skull bead to your knife, you are in luck because there is a large lanyard hole on it. Expect this knife to put up with daily hard use and still look good with your suit.

MSRP is $319.95. Available on Amazon for around $191.
