The 1911 has a history of being a very reliable pistol for many reasons. But one of the things you must do in order to extend the life of the pistol is to do proper maintenance at regular intervals, just like any other pistol. Included in this maintenance schedule, you must properly lubricate the pistol in the right areas. Luckily, the pistol is not particularly picky about whether you use grease or a liquid lubricant, but nonetheless, it needs to have sufficient lubrication in certain places.
