Day 2 at SHOT Show 2017 started out quietly. It looked like things were going to slow down on Wednesday, but the early-afternoon saw a rush of buyers back at the Sands Expo Center finishing their assessments of the new for 2017 knives before deciding how to divvy up their dollars and placing orders Thursday and Friday.

Fox SHOT Show 2017 Knives
Our first stop was Fox Knives – the Maniago manufacturer is gaining some serious steam outside of its native Italy, and for good reason. The blades at Fox’s booth were everything we expect from the company: a fanatical attention to detail, stylish, masculine, utterly functional works of art. We’ve been waiting to handle the Phoenix since first hearing about it in October and it was worth the wait. Another standout was the TUR fixed blade which captures the attention of anyone who walks by.

Benchmade SHOT Show 2017 Knives
Benchmade’s booth at SHOT Show is a sight to behold. One of, if not the biggest knife brand booths at the show, it was like a mini Benchmade museum. Almost heaven for any die-hard fan.

There’s been a lot of talk about the new integral Anthem, and it clearly showcased Benchmade’s expanded capabilities. But a real surprise was the Freek. It’s as close as Benchmade gets to a value folder, but with good design and smart material choices it still keeps up with the rest of the new lineup. The knife has sleeper hit written all over it.
