Concealed Carry

G43 Review: The Compact Powerhouse for EDC

April 16, 2025 by Ajita Sherer 2 Comments

In the ever-evolving world of concealed carry, the Glock 43 has emerged as a top-tier choice, trusted by seasoned firearm enthusiasts and new carriers alike. With its ultra-compact frame, lightweight design, and legendary Glock reliability, the Glock 43 redefines what it means to carry confidently and comfortably every day.

Here’s an in-depth look at the specs, features, and real-world usability that make the Glock 43 a standout concealed carry pistol, including a practical take on its most talked-about feature: magazine capacity.

Glock 43 Specs

  • Model: Glock 43
  • Caliber: 9mm
  • Weight : (Unloaded): 16.19 oz
  • Weight :(Loaded): 18.7 oz (with a six-round mag)
  • Overall Length: 6.26 in
  • Height: 4.25 in
  • Width: 1.02
  • Barrel Length: 3.39 in
  • Magazine Capacity: 6 rounds (standard) / 7 rounds (extended)
  • Trigger Pull: 5.5 lbs
  • Sights: Fixed polymer Glock sights
  • Material: Polymer frame with steel slide

Slim, Ergonomic, and Built for Comfort

The G43’s minimalist design offers the perfect blend of “concealability” and “shootability”. At just over one-inch wide, it disappears easily inside the waistband, whether you prefer IWB or OWB holsters. Despite its compact size, the grip texture and overall ergonomics give you a solid hold, even under stress. Its compact 6.26 inch length and 4.25 inch height make it especially appealing for those who find double-stack or full-size handguns cumbersome. At just 16.19 ounces unloaded, you’ll barely notice it on your hip during all-day carry.

Glock Reliability: Proven Under Pressure

Glock is synonymous with durability and performance, and the G43 is no exception. This striker-fired pistol utilizes Glock’s Safe Action System, known for its simplicity and dependability. Whether you’re caught in the rain, in dusty terrain, or simply relying on it during your daily commute, the Glock 43 is engineered to perform when it matters most.

Chambered in 9mm, it offers a solid balance between manageable recoil, and stopping power, ideal for both experienced and new shooters. Its 3.39 inch barrel delivers consistent accuracy at close to moderate ranges, perfect for personal defense scenarios.

Practical Everyday Carry and Versatility

The Glock 43 was designed with real-world carry in mind. Its slim, streamlined profile means fewer printing issues and more comfort across various clothing options and holster setups. Many users gravitate towards IWB holsters for discretion, while others appreciate OWB setups for faster access and comfort during extended wear.

While its 6-round magazine may seem limited compared to some modern high-capacity options, the Glock 43 focuses on what matters most: concealibility and effective shot placement. Many responsible carriers often offset the round count by carrying a spare mag, boosting their capacity and embracing a mindset of preparedness.

Single-Stack Magazine

Critics often cite the G43’s capacity as a downside, but Glock was actually intentional with this choice. By opting for a single-stack magazine, Glock created a slimmer, more concealable firearm that excels in daily carry situations. The narrower frame improves comfort, reduces printing, and opens up more holster and carry options.

Carrying additional magazines is easy, and the focus on accuracy, mindset, and situational awareness over pure firepower aligns with responsible concealed carry practices.

Conclusion: A Trusted, Tactical Choice for EDC

The Glock 43 remains one of the best concealed carry handguns on the market. Its compact form factor, lightweight frame, and trusted Glock engineering make it an ideal everyday carry companion. While some may pause at the smaller magazine capacity, the advantages in concealability, comfort, and reliability far outweigh the trade-off. For those seeking a proven, purpose-built 9mm for discreet self-defense, the Glock 43 is a firearm that deserves serious consideration.
