First Look: Kahr Special “Tig” Edition ST9

June 22, 2018 by Graham Baates Leave a Comment

Kahr Special "Tig" Edition ST9

American manufacturer Kahr most recently released an updated version of their popular carry guns.  The S9 was our first look at this gun.  If you’re not familiar with the upgrades check out the original coverage here.  Adding additional internal rails and front slide serrations took an already excellent firearm and made it a little better.  Kahr is known for producing quality guns that are remarkably affordable while also being American made.  That combination is not very common these days.

Taking that American pride a step further is a new limited edition run of ST9s, Desert Eagles, and Thompsons bearing the name of John “Tig” Tiegen.  These special editions are limited in production and do more than just look cool.

To best explain it the following was taken directly from Kahr’s news page:

Kahr Arms is excited to announce the TIG series ST9 pistol. The 9mm sub-compact pistol with 4” barrel will feature the Kryptek Typhon print on the polymer frame with accessory rail, a blackened stainless steel slide, front slide serrations, and white three-dot sights. It ships with two eight-round magazines.

This is a Special Edition pistol and only 1,000 will be made. Engravings on each pistol will include its number in the series, the TIG logo, TIG’s signature and the Beyond the Battlefield logo.

This limited edition firearm will be available January 2018. The first 50 guns (#1 – #50) will be sold as a three-gun sets. It will include this Kahr ST9, the Auto Ordnance Tommy Gun TIG model, and the Magnum Research Desert Eagle TIG model. These three-gun sets will also include the book 13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi, autographed by John “TIG” Tiegen, co-author, American hero, former GRS Operator and survivor of the attacks.

The MSRP on the ST9093TIG model is $541.

Part of the proceeds from the sale of each firearm will be donated to the Beyond the Battlefield (BTB) Foundation by Kahr Firearms Group, the parent company of Kahr Arms.

Beyond the Battlefield is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that John “TIG” Tiegen and his wife, Margaret, founded in 2017. Its mission is to provide support for wounded veterans as they face the many challenges encountered during rehabilitation, the healing process and reintegration into everyday life.

Kahr along with John “TIG” Tiegen, member of the Benghazi Annex Security team, hero of the Benghazi attack and co-author of the book 13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi, developed a collaboration project to help support veteran foundations across the country.

In staying with the “13 Hours” theme, the project offers 13 Special Edition Magnum Research .50AE Desert Eagle’s featuring the Kryptek Typhon pattern, and engravings of the TIG logo, TIG’s signature and the Beyond the Battlefield logo – the foundation TIG and his wife Margaret recently founded. Each pistol is numbered 1 through 13.

To date four of the guns have been auctioned around the country and raised nearly $40,000 for the Veteran Foundations they were offered to. Below is a list of those who have, or will receive, one of these special firearms, each personally chosen by TIG.

“It’s awesome to be working with Kahr Firearms Group to provide these special edition Desert Eagles to 13 different organizations. For me, it’s an honor to be in a position where I can help other veteran foundations raise awareness and money for the many different causes they represent”, stated John “TIG” Tiegen.
