Bravo Concealment Holster: Review

With the rising terrorist threat, both worldwide and domestically, there’s been a sharp uptick in concealed carry permit applications resulting in more people carrying a concealed weapon in the near future than ever before. First time firearms buyers have several resources in which to research their upcoming purchase, weather it be on the internet or enlisting the knowledge of their local gun store. Bravo Concealment produces a key piece of equipment that often gets overlooked. A piece of equipment that is just as important as the pistol itself.

In a sea of kydex holster manufacturers, trying to figure out where to throw your money can be a daunting task. That’s why you’re reading articles on the Loadout Room. To allow the experienced staff of writers lead you down the path to equipment nirvana. Like most avid shooters, I have a laundry basket full of both IWB and OWB holsters for various pistols I’ve carried. One in particular has risen to the top and remains on my right hip securely holstering my Glock 19, the Bravo Concealment BCA Gun Holster.

Bravo Concealment holsters use .08″ Kydex, which is a thermoplastic acrylic-polyvinyl that can be heat formed to wrap around almost any three dimensional object.  Kydex also provides a rigid, chemical resistant platform to secure your pistol and magazines. I prefer a rigid holster over one made of leather because I’ve heard of leather holsters bending or deforming into the trigger well while re-holstering a pistol and ultimately discharging the weapon as the user continues to force it into the holster.

I chose the Bravo Concealment BCA Gun Holster Combo which includes the BCA holster and a double magazine pouch for $114.98. The Bravo Concealment Holster is pre-curved to fit snugly against your body and maintains a low profile while wearing concealed. The standard BCA holster has a 10 degree forward cant and includes belt loops made from injection molded Polymer for superior strength.  Different cants as well as various designs and sizes of belt loops will help the customer find a great fitting and secure holster for their needs. My holster was originally equipped with the standard belt loops but I ended up purchasing an additional pair of pancake style belt loops to see if I could get the holster to sit even closer to my body. Bravo Concealment manufactures the holster-to-belt loop interface with simple hardware making the swap quick and easy.

When you purchase the Bravo Concealment BCA Gun Holster Combo, you can select either a double magazine pouch (pictured above) or two single magazine pouches.  The magazine pouch uses the same durable .08″ Kydex as the holster and offers the same range of belt loop options to further customize the fit. The double magazine pouch also features a single screw mounted in the center to adjust the retention preventing the inadvertent loss of a magazine.

I continue to push thousands of rounds through my trusty Glock 19 in an attempt to maintain the upper hand should I ever need to draw my sidearm in a situation and the Bravo Concealment holster remains on my side producing a positive “click” when re-holstering. The Kydex provides a snug friction fit around the trigger guard which is the main source of retention. The opening of the holster is slightly flared to provide smooth entry and exit of the firearm. Special care during manufacturing has been taken to provide full access to the grip as well as magazine release while the weapon is holstered.

In an effort to abolish lead times which are typically 4-6 weeks, Bravo Concealment has recently offered a “Rush Order” line of holsters and magazine pouches. The Rush Order line utilizes a process they’ve coined as AMP or Advanced Manufacturing Process.  This process uses state of the art CAD/CAM designs, advanced verifying tools and measuring arms with freakin lasers! –Dr Evil. This process doesn’t currently offer as many custom features as the traditional hand built holster line but Bravo Concealment is constantly adding to the Rush Order page so stay tuned.

Over the years, I have used Blackhawk SERPA, Safariland, Blade-Tech, Galco, FAB-Defense, Ailen Gear and Cross Breed holsters. All of them have attributes I like, otherwise I wouldn’t have purchased them. But with each holster, I find myself constantly looking for something a little better. The Bravo Concealment BCA Holster has me looking no further as I have yet to find fault in it’s design or functionality.
