Bolle Gunfire 2.0 Safety Glasses, One Set to Rule Them All

April 11, 2024 by Fred Rowlands Leave a Comment

When I started Military Security work, safety glasses were almost non-existent.  Later in my Law Enforcement years, they were often of dubious quality compared to today’s standards but the idea of one set that was useful and included lenses to wear indoors and outdoors hadn’t become a “thing” yet.

1980’s Era “Safety Glasses”

Today, thankfully we have Bolle Safety glasses and their impressive tactical lineup which includes the Gunfire Kit 2.0.

The Full Gunfire Kit 2.0

These glasses are an ideal kit for shooting enthusiasts. STANAG 4296 & ANSI Z87.1 certified the GUNFIRE comes with interchangeable temples & a mono lens system. Clear, Smoke, or Copper (indoor/outdoor), the Gunfire has the exclusive Platinum antifog and anti-scratch coating as standard. Supplied in a rigid case complete with a microfiber pouch. You get 3 sets of ballistic lenses for $76, or if you catch them on sale possibly as low as $54 at some retailers.

I’ve been wearing them for 2 months now and I really enjoy the wrap-around frames and the Platinum coating.  Pollen season and range dust haven’t made any scratches on the lenses, bouncing around the truck seat and dashboard in the dust and humidity doesn’t seem to have produced any scratches or other issues either.  The lenses are crystal clear and haven’t a hint of any wavey lines in them or any deviations of any type and provide an outstanding field of view.  They are lightweight, comfortable and changing the lenses out is fast and easy as you can see here.

If you’re like me you use two lenses, the smoke and copper the most and Bolle understands people will probably use two most of the time so they provide two sets of temples.  They are different, black and dark grey / black and light grey, but they’re available to use as you see fit.

Two Sets of Temples Provided

The copper lenses are unique in that they are made to be used inside and outside, perfect for strike and entry teams that will be inside a building where light can be minimal but time to change glasses is even less so.  I’ve used them working on my land while inside and outside of my barn, that has only natural light, well into dusk with no issues seeing.  The copper lens provides better visual acuity on cloudy days then smoke lenses and better overall vision during low light.

Copper Lens

I’ve used these glasses for work, play, at the range, shopping at Wal Mart, (you never know in Wal Mart so be prepared right?!), walking around the local town and city, and really for just about everything I’ve done.  They continue to be great glasses to wear everyday.

If you need a set of glasses for tactical use, the Bolle Gunfire Kit 2.0 is a good set to have and you could do much worse quality wise for much more money.

Garfield out.
