Sharpen a Knife like a Viking Warrior

Viking Whetstone Pendant | Hone your Knife like a Viking Warrior

If you haven’t figured it out already I have a thing for edged weapons. I’ve done quite a few reviews on knives, both fixed blade and folding. I’ve also discussed the importance of maintaining your knives at home and in the field. I guess one of the things that really draws me to knives and […]

A Navy SEALs Guide to Mastering Fear

A Navy SEALs Guide to Mastering Fear | Fear of the water

My friend Kamal is a world traveler; he has meditated with Tibetan monks in the Dalai Lama’s monastery, trekked the Himalayas, and hiked the Camino de Santiago in Spain. He served in the U.S. Army and studied to be an ER doctor. He has launched tech companies, runs his own venture capital firm, and is […]

Streamlight portable USB device charger

Streamlight portable USB device charger

There seem’s to be quite a few manufacturers of USB device chargers. Everything from the cheap little charging sticks that give you a single charge to the larger ones that provide the ability to charge phones, tablets and other USB powered devices. I personally prefer a middle of the road charger that can charge/power my iPhone […]

Garmin Fenix 5 | Worldclass Multi-Sport Watch

Garmin Fenix 5 | Worldclass Multi-Sport Watch

Summer is in full swing and it’s time to hit the trails, both for hiking and running. For the past two years, I’ve been using the Garmin Forerunner 10 as my GPS watch. This year it’s time to upgrade. After doing some research and asking questions, I’ve settled on the Garmin Fenix 5. Yes, it’s a significantly […]

Darn Tough Wool Socks | Uncompromised durability and fit

Darn Tough Wool Socks | Uncompromised durability and fit

Darn Tough Wool Socks. Uncompromised durability and fit. I’ve been through several brands of wool socks in the past years, but just recently got my hands on a few pairs of Darn Tough socks, 3 to be exact for testing. I went with 3 pairs from their Hike/Trek line since that is what I plan […]

Old Leather Gun Holsters – BAD for Concealed Carry

Old Leather Gun Holsters | BAD for Concealed Carry

There are plenty of quality leather gun holsters on the market made by reputable companies. Depending on the type of leather used and how it was shaped and formed will dictate how pliable it is. Leather holsters have been around for quite a long time going back to the wild west days with cowboys carrying […]

Minimalist Go-Bag for Preparedness and Adventure

Minimalist Go-Bag for Preparedness and Adventure

I enjoy the preparedness lifestyle, but it can quickly turn into a hoarding lifestyle. I’ve had a go-bag for quite some time that just sat unused either in my office or in the back of my vehicle. Yes, I was prepared, but I never found myself using the stuff. In my mind, it was almost […]

Watch: Making Black Rifle Coffee in the Field

Watch: Making Black Rifle Coffee in the Field

One of the things I remember from field exercises in the military is making coffee in the morning. During my time that involved using an instant coffee packet from our MRE’s and boiling up some water in our canteen cups (good stuff!). Even nowadays there is just something about making coffee in the wilderness that […]
