First Look: Heritage Arms Inc. “American” AR15

I’m just back from my local gun dealer and in my in hands I hold an exclusive early production copy of Heritage Arms Inc’s new AR15 rifle dubbed “The American”. As far as I am aware we here at The Arms Guide are one of the first media outlets to get to put our hands on this rifle and actually shoot it. When I say it’s new to the market I will tell you it’s serial number is under 30, that means it’s most likely from the first hours of total production. That alone makes this gun special in my eyes. I don’t want to go overboard with information and details but I will give you a few teaser pictures and tell you that I have a ton of magazines loaded up and ready to go for my range session.

AMG2
Unique magazine well.

The “American” is made right here in the United States in Loma, Colorado and should be hitting the stores very soon with an MSRP of right around $1000. This puts it right in the thick of its competitors in terms of pricing, what do you get for that price? Well below is a small sample of what comes standard on the Heritage Arms American AR15.

LIST OF SPECIFICATIONS

  • Patent Pending Unique Aircraft Grade Aluminum Receiver CNC Machined Lower
  • ATI Multiple Position Stock with Six Settings
  • Magpul K2 Pistol Grip
  • Nitride Finished Bolt Carrier Group
  • Fifteen Inch Keymod Rail
  • 16″ Barrel Made by Ballistic Advantage with 1-7 Twist.
  • Upgraded Yankee Hill Machine Muzzle Device

I have only had this rifle less than an hour and I can tell you right now that the Receiver is built like a freaking tank. It’s by far the heaviest AR15 receiver I have had a chance to spent any time around. I am curious as to how this will feel compared to my beloved Noveske SBR. My quick inspection of the rail system lends me to think that Heritage Arms really built this rifle to be overbuilt. By which I mean the components I have inspected so far are all top quality and the fit and finish is as good as any AR15 that currently sits in my gun cabinet. I have loaded up magazines made by Surefire, Colt, Bravo Company, Magpul, as well as some no name aluminum ones. The course of fire for Friday’s range day is yet to be determined but we have three shooters lined up and a great mix of Wolf, Remington, Fiocchi and a brand I can’t honestly remember. The plan is to take along some Slip2000 and just run the gun like we would any other AR15 in our arsenals. Check back soon for our range review and we hope you enjoyed this first look at the “American” by Heritage Arms Inc.
