Terrex Climaheat Agravic Micro Down Jacket | by adidas

February 21, 2018 by Erik Meisner Leave a Comment

Terrex Climaheat Agravic Micro Down Jacket

There are certain things I look for in a down insulation layer. Lightweight, warmth and compressibility. The new Terrex Climaheat Agravic Micro Down Jacket has these attributes in spades. I wear the size large and this jacket only weighs 272g or 9.6oz, pack into an integrated pocket and is warmer than some thicker jackets. I’ve had the chance to use this as a stand-alone jacket as well as a layering piece. While skiing, the Agravic Micro makes a comfortable insulating under a shell like the Terrex Techrock GTX on colder days.

Pertex, the outer fabric used in the Agravic Micro Down Jacket, has a strength to weight ratio that has blown my mind since its inception. Although Pertex is paper thin, this lightweight technical fabric has uncanny strength. Several of my jackets use Pertex to save weight but I’ve really put the strength aspect to the test. Snagging my jackets on sharp objects at work has left me cringing. Knowing that I’ve just torn a sleeve on an expensive jacket while slipping between wall studs. To my surprise, every time this has occurred, there isn’t even a snag in the material. I don’t know how they do it, but this stuff is tougher than you’d think.

The amazing light weight of the premium water-repellent down insulation is another deceiving feature of the Agravic jacket. When I pick up this 9.6-ounce jacket, I’m seriously questioning how it will keep me warm. Features like a 3D baffle system on the interior that creates overlapping baffles. All but eliminating the cold spots at the stitching, a common problem among down jackets. Additionally, heat seal inserts are installed on the back of the neck and cuffs to mitigate heat loss. These trap the warm air from escaping and reduce the introduction of cold outside air.

Zippered seam pockets

A pair of zippered hand warmer pockets on the exterior visually disappear into the seam. A subtle feature that maintains the clean look of the Agravic Jacket. Additionally, a pair of large interior pockets are perfect for storing items like gloves or a hat. One of these interior pockets even doubles as a storage pouch for the jacket itself. Lightweight Pertex and down insulation contribute to the easy compressibility and packability of the Agravic Micro Down Jacket.

I’m always in search of good quality outerwear. Terrex, the adidas outdoor brand, is a great place to find many high quality and well thought out pieces. Having previously reviewed the Terrex Scope GTX shoes, a Gore-Tex shell and now the Agravic Down Jacket, I’m seeing a predictable trend of quality materials and craftsmanship. Take a look at addidasoutdoor.com to search for your next piece of outerwear.
